I haven't read the last couple pages but I feel this needs repeated. Why did Pegula allow the guy who he knew he was likely to imminently fire to trade away the number one asset in the organization?KG wrote:Not sure why ownership would allow Regeier to deal Vanek if he was going to can him 2 weeks later...

You don't think the ownership group had a say in the vanek trade? There is no way they didn't sign off on that trade (regardless of their decision to fire the GM a few weeks later).Staggy wrote:I haven't read the last couple pages but I feel this needs repeated. Sabres are rebuilding. With Vanek turning 30 in 2 months, he doesn't quite fit what they're looking to do. Sure, they lost Vanek... but they got Moulson, who they are reportedly planning on trading at the draft, along with a conditional 1st round pick in 2014 and a 2nd round pick in 2015.pens2005 wrote:You don't think the ownership group had a say in the vanek trade? It's not like they gave the guy away for nothing. The trade brought in some valuable assets to a team in rebuild mode.

Three weeks ago, I would never have imagined the Capitals being in first place in the Metropolitan. Shows what I know.

I wonder if they could go in the central and it would become the worst division in hockey.

Gotta give him credit. He scores goals better than anyone else in the last 15 years.

We'll see how the next 20 games go, but he sure lit the lamp so far this season. Gotta give credit where it is deserved. Of course he is also a -7 which I guess means he doesn't play much defense.

Guess he has to save his energy for goals and can't be bothered even trying on defense.

Re: Other NHL games 2013-2014 season
mildly interesting stats:
Detroit has lost the last five games in overtime or shootout
Tampa Bay is leading the east in points. they would be 9th in the west.
*Tampa is 7-1 vs. western conference teams so far this season

Good point on the west. East is weak but the West is very strong this year!canaan wrote:mildly interesting stats:

ive been so out of the loop that i just saw that this happened lolmikey287 wrote:The 'another' player is Philippe Lefevbre I believe...
Versteeg has been a big sack of dog vomit this year...Panthers get two prospects that might be able to do something with. Jimmy Hayes can take that "boy, I hope this power forward turns out..." role in Florida after they move Shawn Matthias.
Florida has been working like hell to do something...

To be fair, it's hard to notice Versteeg...empty sweater this year...he's such a loser, I can't stand him...

And the Flyers score. Ottawa gets hosed out of a goal and the scum score.

Agreed. Even if it was closer, there was no definitive proof.
And we wouldn't want that one going against the Penguins...
