It's a special kind of absurd/failure only the Sabres can pull off.

That was hilarious too. I said somewhere here that the Sabres just don't have any purpose, any direction on the rink, and that's a great example of it. A team that even has a below average tactician with below average leadership skills does not have a team that does that. Even my PeeWee kids wouldn't think of doing of that.
