only high cards I had were K Hearts and Q spades, and only one 9.

I started with 6 diamonds (4 of the 5 high cards) and three clubs (A,K,8)

Widow had no diamonds (redwill had them all) if it had 1 or 2 it would have been a lay down.

I had 10, 6 Clubs. I think we should all take a drink of a nearby adult beverage owing to the fact that someone actually made a bid for the first time in forever.

Completely unrelated to this hand, but: When I was playing with my in-laws, I bid 8 Diamonds on A, K, J Diamonds and the A Spades. Got nothing higher than a 7 in the widow and NO Diamonds. So I ended up trying to make an 8 Diamonds bid and I had only three Diamonds in my hand.

My partner (father-in-law) came through and we made nine.

Weird how things happen.
