College Hockey Thread 2013-14

First game at the new Pegula Arena at PSU. Looks great, can't wait to go!

Lions an early 1-0 lead on Army, just killed a 5 minute major.

PSU PK has been getting a helluva workout tonight. Disappointing show discipline-wise tonight. PSU up 3-0; Army's not very good, it would seem.

Lovely arena. I can't wait to see a game there.

Good talent on the PSU side. I saw them kick some ass at Hershey last year. The boys were excited for the big event and got a little sloppy. They should be able to tighten it up and move forward.

I have season tickets and was at the game last night. It's loud. Very loud. Arena is amazing. Atmosphere last night was amazing.

I have season tickets but can't go to all of the games due to my son's hockey schedule. I have 4 seats in section 114 plus a parking pass. The tickets are $15 each and I am looking to sell these upcoming games in 2013. Once I get my son's hockey schedule for 2014, I will probably have more games to sell. If interested, email me at president@wahockey.com.

Are the games sold out or could I drive over some Saturday and scoop one at the gate?

Robert Morris hockey home games are for the first time going to be broadcast on local radio, ESPN 970. That's a good thing. I am curious as to who the play-by-play guy will be.

I'd call them first. There are only about 200 seats and 200 SRO available for each game and I'm guessing most of those tickets have already been purchased.

I am really anticipating big things for the Penn State hockey program. I'm excited to see the pipeline that builds over the next few years.

It's on Comcast Sports Network, but may not be available outside Philly area since it is at Wells Fargo.

what was up with the PSU-RIT shootout when it doesn't count in the standings? (Game recorded as 3-3 tie)

All shootouts or all out-of-conference shootouts are recorded as a tie. Don't remember which.

Just know that shootout wins and losses aren't really counted in college hockey. It's just a "please the fans" thing

mrandall is correct - for conference games, the shootout winner will receive the extra point in the standings however the pairwise ranking system will count as tie. non conference game is just for kicks

God I hated shootouts in college. The first year of the rule was my junior year, IIRC. It's hard to give full focus to something you know doesn't count for squat at the end of the day.

The first year in the CCHA (before the B1G effed that up) of the shoot out I think 28 or 29 games were decided by the shoot out and changed the standings for the conference playoffs

There's a Groupon out there for Day 1 of the Three Rivers Classic on 12/27, BC/BGSU at 4:30 and PSU/RMU at 7:30. $11 for 104, 110, 115 or 121 and $17 for 105, 109, 116 or 120.

Regularly $23 and $34.50. Get em while they last!
