Vrbata has always had somewhat decent numbers (never really had less than 15 goals/year with Colorado/Chicago). I guess his explosion with Phoenix is a by-product of him being one of he few people on that team who can actually score goals.

That was a very questionable call, but then the Caps always seem to get those breaks. The call itself was questionable and then the refs reaction made it even more questionable.

Vrbata is a good counter puncher. PHX's systems are perfect for him. Plus, he seems like a guy that doesn't do well with a lot of media attention, so the desert is perfect for him.
