No opinion, I didn't see the incident. I dislike exhibition games, because fights tend to happen more .Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 7m PHX's Paul Bissonette assessed GM for leaving bench to fight Nolan. Calls for auto 10-game suspension unless league rescinds on appeal.Expand Collapse Reply Retweet
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 9m First bad concussion of NHL pre-season: PHX's Rusty Klesla KO'd on hit by LA's Jordan Nolan. No penalty on play. NHL currently reviewing.

Re: Paul Bissonette- leaving the bench
If recent precedent is anything, he won't be hit for the leaving the bench thing. The last couple of times the Pens were involved (last season) where an opponent came off the bench for a fight was not even a game misconduct let alone a suspension.

The best thing Eric Godard ever did on the ice as a Penguin was jumping off the bench to grab Haley when he went after Johnson.

Re: Paul Bissonette- leaving the bench
10 regular season games for Biz. I've seen the hit but haven't seen Biz coming off the bench. for a guy like Biz though I think 10 games is essentially the league saying, "we understand why you did it but we still have to make an example of you."
the hit , imo was clean. Nolan came from an area that Klesla should've seen him if he hadn't been skating like he was at practice and Nolan didn't leave his feet until after and didn't target the head. NHL got this one right.

Just now saw the hit. It should be in instructional videos for how to properly hit an opponent in the open ice.

Wait...why is it only 10 regular season games? Why not preseason games?

Re: Paul Bissonette- leaving the bench
I imagine a pre-season suspension is rare, mostly because during pre-season guys like Biz are trying to show what they can do and teams need to see it in order to make a decision on whether to keep a player or not. besides, in theory it's more costly to the team if a player is suspended for games that "count". imagine it was OvenChicken, wouldn't you rather see him suspended for 10 regular season games rather than 4 games that don't mean a damn thing and 6 games that do?Idoit40fans wrote:Wait...why is it only 10 regular season games? Re: Paul Bissonette- leaving the bench
I think it shoudl be for the next 10 games no matter what. If there were 4 games left for a team way ahead in the standings would it be better to wait and suspend them from playoff games? We're almost to more important games, lets just start that suspension once the games get a little more important.

I think there were some suspensions that ran preseason + regular back in 11-12.

NHL video is behind the link.
So in the NHL, anytime a stick touches above a players shoulder its always 2 minutes, but you can blow someone's head off with your shoulder as long as you meet a few technical requirements.

Re: Paul Bissonette- leaving the bench
I can't watch the video now, but the nhl is awesome at focusing on a very specific criteria for penalties while ignoring seemingly worse infractions.
Such as when someone is slashing, hooking and/or cross checking the crap out of someone but as soon as the stick gets into the hands... Bam! 2 minutes.

Agreed. Worth ten games to avoid a goaltender trying to fight a skater in full gear.tfrizz wrote:ffemtreed wrote:Free Bissonette!!!!!
