I don't think the temperament of the bear matters. Him trophy hunting in a forbidden area is the crux of the issue. It just happened to be a bear of significant affinity within the community

There is contention over it being an "official" non-trophy hunting area. Since it's First Nation land, it should be their call.
And, (imho, at least) trophy hunting is stupid. If you are going to hunt, use what you kill.
