For example, yesterday some cupcakes were placed into the public domain at my firm’s kitchen. I walk in there and someone has raggedly cut one in half, which flung crumbs all over the counter. Just eat the ******* cupcake! I see this all the time with muffins, bagels, cake, cookies, slices of pizza, etc. where someone cuts the thing in half and leaves the rest. I don’t want something that someone else probably had to touch to cut, and WTF would I do with half of a half of a bagel? Just eat it!

I suspect this is being done by women who are employing some sort of women logic that food magically has no calories if you don’t eat the whole thing.
I'm onboard with this. I can't think of anybody who has ever picked up the sliced half of a donut that was left in the break room. Splitting a donut with somebody, I've seen that, but there's just an unwritten rule about not eating the abandoned partial donut.

Like Ovechkin cried about skipping out on the NHL season unless the NHL agreed to play in the Olympics?

I am too. Thus my reaction and the ending of the conversation. I used to defend it and continue a debate but it's pointless now.

I've gotten good at shutting them off at the first tired recycled "talking bleat."

While we're at it, other fans, you can stop your "Isn't-that-cute-Cindy-Lou-Who" condescension at my excitement with the Pirates' season. I  at it, but I still find it annoying.

I'm slowly becoming irrationally peeved at being irrationally peeved at things. I'm afraid of a slippery slope (the Cards' Matt Adams went to school there, BTW) that will spiral me into becoming a zero-tolerance old lady.

Best irrational peeve of someone else I know- my former boss could not bear people responding with just "thanks" when he gave them an answer on something by email. I didn't do it when he was my boss but now that I've been promoted to an equal position to his- oh yeah, the "thanks" is on!

Or people at work who put "Thanks" as part of their email signature.

You will get an unsolicited email from them like, "Cake is in the breakroom.

Thanks,
John Smith
X1234"

Why are you thanking me?

Or when they add in a manual "Thanks" and leave their signature intact:

"Please have your TPS reports ready by 4PM today.

Thanks

Thanks,
John Smith
X1234"

How do you not catch that?! I know people do it to save the hours it takes to type "Thanks" on emails that deserve it, but come on.

Corporate email just bugs me as a whole. I work for a Fortune 500 company and some people there couldn't compose an email properly if their lives depended on it. I'll read and find everything with their email before I take action. Ugh

I admittedly have "Thanks," in my signature.

The one thing that drives me nuts are some of the horribly unprofessional email habits many women have in the corporate world. Yes, men do unprofessional things too, but some of this stuff (especially from women over 30-35) is just horrible.

- Floral backgrounds in Outlook...really?
- Ridiculously "beautiful" signatures, with cursive font, decorations, etc
- Replying to all on birthday messages, trying to outdo the previous person's "Happy Birthday"
- Long, inspirational quotes
- Putting the bumper sticker ribbons in email messages (this was big after the VT shooting)

Men can be unprofessional too, as I've seen time and time again, but women are the worst offenders by far of email malpractice.

Yeah, the fancy wallpapers are the worst. Especially since they carry over to replies and forwards (can probably be turned off but bleep if I know how).

Email peeve mostly about men is guys who EMAIL ALL IN CAPS or all lower case every time.

He's a good dude though. Couple nights ago I was cleaning up at the end of my shift and he handed me a beer. At first I thought "Its a trap!" but there was more + pizza in the break room. Had a beer & pizza party with the owner, plant manager and a couple other guys. Our company is moving next week and they were there loading stuff in the trucks.

More drivers (I bet there's a pet peeve for hearing about other people's driving):

The light at the 4-way intersection by my apartment went out (just the one intersection; everywhere else was fine). You're supposed to treat it like a 4-way stop sign, and this worked well when I was heading out. Unfortunately, it didn't work the same way when I was coming back and was almost hit by some sorority skank (whose kind could probably fill a paragraph or two of pet peeves) who decided she was going to make the left hand turn without stopping because the guy in front of her went (and that was at least 5 seconds before her, enough for me to enter the intersection).

I don't understand how some people have licenses.
