Nice to see that Nikolai Zherdev did not forget how to live large.
- damaged his Bentley in the process of destroying several lawns around the Russian hotel where he celebrated his new contract with Lev Prague.
- in turn, the angry homeowners apparently keyed his Bentley nicely (yes, several penis-related messages :) )
- of course, he lost his passport, so he could not report in Prague
- and his wife just filed for divorce thanks to his partying

Ex-Penguin Alex Ponikarovsky to SKA St. Petersburg - 2-year contract. He will return to Russia after 9 years.
Viktor Tikhonov (ex-PHO) re-signed with St. Petersburg - also 2-year contract.

Vasily Tikhonov found dead in Moscow yesterday. He was the son of the Lake Placid coach and the father of the current player; he used to coach in San Jose, Kentucky, Europe... Most recently he was the adviser to the GM of CSKA.

Tikhonov fell out of the window of his 4th story apartment. He was found holding a knife, as he was apparently trying to manipulate the window net. The police now wants to determine if it was an accident or a suicide.

Oh, Zherdev.

HC Lev Prague announced that they mutually agreed to terminate Zherdev's contract due to him being homesick. Zherdev, on the other hand, told Russian press agency ITAR-TASS that he did not request anything like that and that he knows nothing about the contract being terminated. And, KHL Commissioner Alexander Medvedev finally nailed it: "According to our information, Zherdev had another problem with getting drunk. We are now preparing a Code of Honor for the KHL players. If any of our players will have problems with alcohol, similarly to what the NHL does, we will send him to mandatory rehab."

And the Head Coach of Atlant Moscow (Zherdev's former team) on the prospects of bringing Zherdev back:

Other roster changes for Prague:

Mathias Porseland (D, Sweden) from Lev to Admiral Vladivostok
Ryan O´Byrne (TOR) to Lev.

KHL announced the salaries of the following 7 players will NOT count for the teams' salary caps:

Kovalčuk (Petrohrad), Burmistrov (Kazaň), Babčuk (Ufa), Fedotěnko (Doněck), Komarov (Dynamo Moskva), S. Kosticyn (Omsk), a A. Radulov (CSKA Moskva).

According to the KHL Commissioner Medvedev, those players are "extraordinary assets" for the league.

Zherdev's replacement: Jakub Klepis did not get the contract from Anaheim, so he just sign a 1-year contract with Prague.
