Not so much a free agent signing as it is a release. But the Minnesota Wild have placed Bjorn Krupp on $125 waivers for the purposes of a mutually-consented release. Krupp was an undrafted free agent signed out of Belleville (OHL) and has spent his career in the DEL to date. The Wild have let him out of his contract and relinquished his rights. Bjorn is the American-born son of former Cup-clinching NHL d-man Uwe Krupp.

I believe that speedy Flyers forward Eric Wellwood has signed an AHL contract with the Phantoms.

I was one of the few that suggested that Lombardi would be a good fit for the Pens in 2010. He was never the same player after a preseason concussion that limited him to two games in his first year.

Yeah, this is why I don't get re-signing Dupuis and Kunitz to long-term contracts. People say...oh look at the $5m paid for so and so on the UFA market. Dupuis and Kunitz are complementary wingers, and there's quite a few complementary wingers available on the market, as there are every year, that could be had for $2-3m on 1 year deals.

I'd rather have Morrow for 1 year at $2m than Dupuis for 4 years at $3.75m. Any dropoff in production (which IMO would not be very much playing in the same role. Morrow scored .93 pt/g as a Pen last season vs Dupuis' .79), but if there was, the additional cap space could be used to upgrade another forward position. Plus, we woulnd't be saddled with a 38 yr/old $4m 3rd liner down the line.
