Knuble possibly retiring?

Mike Knuble finds himself in the same unrestricted free agent position as a year ago, but the 17-year NHL veteran is far less concerned about his hockey future this time around.

“I think last year I had a lot more hope that something was going to happen,” said Knuble, who spoke and signed autographs Friday at the Grand Rapids Griffins Youth Hockey Camp. “This year I’m being more realistic about it. The fact is you’ve turned 41 … now you feel a little more able to just roll with whatever is going to happen.”

Ponikarovsky to SKA St Petersburg (KHL)

Alexei Ponikarovsky signed a two-year deal with SKA Saint Petersburg on Monday. The 33-year-old forward spent 12 seasons in the NHL, producing 179 goals and 199 assists in 739 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets.

During last season’s lockout he played in the KHL for Donbass, scoring 5 goals for the Ukrainians and assisting on 13 more.

I dont know if id call it great value. He was overpaid last contract. Hes rock solid on defense and just added to a team with a wealth of defense.
