That is where I was going, I can see a few chances to get him into season 4 with either some Golden Company scenes or some flashbacks to the sack of King's Landing intertwined with the Mountain dueling Oberyn Martell

Yeah, that's why I'm re-reading it...I forgot a lot of the minor characters in the last two-three books, as I read them all back-to-back.

I had to look the character up because I confused her with like 2 other characters.

Two-thirds of the way through the 4th book.
Kinda annoyed with all the new characters but assuming they will weave in with existing stories.
Still love Arya's storyline but a few of them (Brienne and to some extent Samwell) seem like a lot of filler with only a little plot.

Almost done with the first book. I think things are gonna be okay finally!
Spoiler:
Ned will get Stannis the Mannis to show up and claim the throne, as he is the true heir, and the Lannisters will be kept on a very short leash.
Spoiler:
Hahaha nah I'm kidding, could you imagine?!

According to HBO's site, you're about $182 off. About $381.99

I knew Martin was slow, just didn't realize the extent.

Read the end of book 4 dated in 2005 where he discusses splitting 4 and 5 and that 5 would be out the next year...flash forward to book 5 dated 2011.

Now the timing concern is really in perspective for me.

If he didn't look like a 90 year old diabetic I wouldn't have the concerns that I do.

Sweaty, laboring over a keyboard, trying to squeeze in every eloquent food description he can muster. The thought of a glazed duck, with lemoncakes and side dishes slickens his palms with eagerness, as he must recede to the kitchen as he can no longer focus on FINISHING THE BOOK.

One thing that drives me nuts is every "group scene" involves detailed description of each banner or shield...3 acorns on a green field, the flayed man, unicorn on a rainbow flag, lion on a maroon field, ... every time.

Or Stone, Rivers, Hill, Waters, Storm, Flowers, or Sand, which are the "bastard names" for the Vale, Riverlands, Westerlands, Crownlands, Stormlands, Reach, and Dorne, respectively.

I think he did this to show how bad things get later. The extravagance dwindles as the war lingers.

I don't know why I laugh everytime he talks about someone "making water".
