People still don't understand yield signs.

Yes, you're supposed to slow down and yield to people you're merging with.

No, it's not a stop sign. Especially when nobody is there.

I used to get so aggravated when I lived in Wash Pa in the 80's. You'd think a population that lives at the intersection of two major interstate highways would know that "merge lanes" weren't "stop lanes".

I've had this happen to me 3 times in the last 2 days.

You are driving down the road. You reach an intersection and the car in front of you stops at the stop sign (which they should). But then they stay stopped, and stopped, and stopped, and stopped. One time, it was someone plugging stuff into their GPS. One was a person texting. One was a woman yelling at her kids in the back seat. And it wasn't just for like 10 seconds. I bet you it was getting up to a minute. I'd beap the horn. The woman yelling at her kids stopped and continued driving.

It took two beaps to get the texter moving. But the GPS lady just kept sitting there. I eventually went around her (which if there was an accident, it would be my fault).

Point being, the road is not yours to just sit and stop and do something else whenever you feel like it. If you have something, pull off the side of the road.

And all 3 of these were ladies.

Where I live is the "Stop in the middle of the street to talk to people on their porch or walking without an regard for the traffic behind you" Capital of the world. No one even makes an attempt to pull over, its your job to try to squeeze past them if you don't want to wait the 2-3 minutes for them to finish their conversation.

When the cooked hamburger patty is significantly smaller in diameter than the hamburger bun.

This is pretty much every home-grilled hamburger I've ever had.

When you put your burgers on the grill, take your thumb and press into the middle of the burger and make an indentation to the point where your thumb almost comes into contact with the grill grates (carefully, of course, I don't want MRandall to burn himself). Your burgers will retain their original patty size.

As a general rule, people don't make their patties thin enough when they grill at home, because the idea of a thick, juicy burger misleads them into making hockey pucks.

what a bargain

The first couple times I made the mistake of making burgers too fat....what results is a charred outside and a gross, under-cooked mushy inside.

I do that, but this batch of patties still ended up a little too small. I think it also depends on the fattiness of the meat, as higher-fat ground beef will shrink more due to more of it rendering off. I wonder if there is a mathematical formula for patty shrinkage? Hmmm.

with burgers, i usually make a ball a couple inches in diameter and put it in some plastic wrap, and press it out as flat as i can. like 1/4" flat or so. they can go right in the freezer like that, and since they're so thin, they can cook from frozen evenly. if you want a thicker burger, just cook two of them and stack them. seems to work pretty well.

mention anything Robocop-related and Bixby Snyder will "respond". I think I read somewhere that it's a bot, but the end result is still the same.

This is really annoying, and I am pretty sure we have all of the Doctor Who hipsters to blame. The 8 million variations people have done of the KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON meme. Like this one that doesn't even make sense:

I have my LGP PM notifications go to my work email. It peeves me that when I get a notification, I cannot see the name of the sender in the little pop-up notification in the bottom right-hand corner of my work laptop. It says "You have received a private message from", but it cuts off the name of the sender. I have to either check my PMs or actually open the email to find out who it is.
