Go from a 3 year, 4.35 million deal to a two way deal. Ouch.

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
Funny, thats what analysts said about the reduced cap. The players that would take a pay cut are those ~$1mil-2mil.meow wrote:...and the squeeze of the middle class continues.

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
Unaware of the particulars, but one might guess the $150k in AHL salary plus a $100k signing bonus as part of his normal paragraph 1 salary combines to effectively guarantee $250k.canaan wrote:ive never heard of that before. strange.

I'm still stunned by this. I see the owners have learned nothing. Lockout in 8 years? Probably.canaan wrote:Why did Blake wheeler get 6years 33.6 million?

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
It's a touch high and I don't particularly love Wheeler but he's producing at a first line level for his position the past couple years with mediocre talent around him. This buys out a ton of UFA years for Winnipeg...for Winnipeg, that's important. Like I said, it's on the high side (like Little's deal) but it's not the worst thing in the world...canaan wrote:Why did Blake wheeler get 6years 33.6 million?

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
because as predicted Winnipeg has to overpay to keep their "star players". Bogo's deal is even more laughable: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=428723" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;canaan wrote:Why did Blake wheeler get 6years 33.6 million?

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
I think Bogosian's deal is really good. Wheeler's is a little high, like I said, so is Little's...but Bogo is terrific and getting better all the time.

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
Bogo has proved nothing. imo he was put in the NHL too early by Don Waddell who was desperate for a good D man that was cheap. he rolled the dice that Bogo could step up as a teenager and he was wrong. it's not so much the money that's bad for Bogo IF he develops, it's the term. his last season in ATL he was BRUTAL. he made all the wrong decisions. 7 years is a loooong time for a player who hasn't proven a damn thing yet.

I agree with mikey, I think that Bogo's contract will work out just fine.

I think Bogosian is pretty great. I don't think the contract will prove to be a bad one.

I like Joe Pavelski. Good player. I'd take him at that cap hit.

Re: 2013 FA Tracker
He's not going to Sweden I don't believe, I think he's just working with a goalie coach for a little bit over there...though, the interest in the NHL for him is minimal...
