holy overpayment Batman! dude has one decent season and a good playoffs and they give him $4 mil per year? crazy. he'd better step it up next season.

as for Niederreiter, the FishSticks had just about had it with him and his manager whining about playing in Bridgeport this past season. if he can stop being a headcase good pickup for the Wild.

That's more sensible, given his limited history.

I can add Benoit Pouliot and Alex Hutchings to the FA list as they were not qualified by Tampa.

They have qualified Mark Barbeiro, JT Brown, and Dan Sexton

Pretty good contract. Not too risky in case his shortened great season was an abberation.

I had a feeling he'd bolt to the KHL. Good for him for sticking around.

Scott Howson would've probably given him 7 mil or traded him for a 7th rounder.

Luckily he's not running the show anymore.

He looked very promising in FLA. looked to be becoming a defensively sound physical force. How did it all go to **** when he landed in Van.

Benoit Pouliot looked seriously good during a stretch with Vinny and St Louis this year (watched two of those games). I think he really is someone for the Pens to have a long look at.

Ken Campbell ‏@THNKenCampbell 13h
'Hometown discount' for Bickell turned into a $3.5 million a year raise. IMO, perfect example of being seduced by a fortuitous hot streak.

I hate to generalize like this, but Bickell is like every other big guy in the league. They play when they want to play, dominate when they want to dominate, and usually overpaid.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 1h
The Islanders have always maintained they weren't going to toll Tim Thomas' contract and there's nothing to suggest anything has changed.
Tubby Timmy to Philly?

I hope so. A year out of the league. 39 years old. A 5 year contract at 4 mill per year sounds about like something Holmgren would do. :D

In all seriousness, does anybody think Thomas can return to elite form and stay injury free after a year off?

According to RDS, and now others, the Isles will use a compliance buyout on Rick DiPietro.

End of an injury filled era.

What the hell is this crap that the Isles attempted to trade DiPietro to VAN. Now will use the buyout on him and VAN will pick him up. Then VAN will attempt to trade Luongo again.

I thought that loophole was closed.
