They're buying out Briere and Schenn doesn't count but about $800-something thousand...

This.

It is definitely just a rumor though so who knows.

Maybe it's Coburn, Read, and the 11th overall pick

Again, just a rumor.
How are they affording this?
That trade has Philly gaining 600k in salary. How is this even possible?
Buying out Briere helps though.

I saw a tweet saying Bryzgalov's camp was told Philly will NOT be buying him out.

Martin can carry it. Other than that, valid point. Maybe one of the prospects is forced into action. Either that or Engelland becomes our breakout specialist.

Re: Martin. Accurate depiction, noted distinction. Carrying the puck not the same as outletting it. Stronger at carrying than making break out passes. Slows a high tempo offense, prevents the puck from getting to 87 as often or as quickly. Can utilize O6 style offense where the center carries the puck from his own zone into the attacking zone and then passes off to one of his wingers. Pros and cons abound.

So, we better hope Pouliot becomes Brian Campbell...and quick...

The correct answer is Engelland.

Imagine a world with Tim Thomas as our goalie and Engelland as our #1 defenseman...

Then Homer said he never said that. Buying out Briere and Bryz gets them to $62mil on the cap, so trading Coburn for Ryan is possible with the big dollar compliance buyouts. Its only possible with Bryz being one of them, though.

Apparently Nino Niederreiter has declined to attend the Islanders prospect camp. He has already attended three of these and is allowed to skip it, but word is he and the islanders are done. If the islanders are looking to get rid of him, he would be a perfect type of speedy player on the third line with Sutter...... in my opinion... which will most certainly be belittled by anyone whose name starts with a M and rhymes with likie.

Torres would have been a horrible signing for the Penguins. You don't get rid of a Matt Cooke and replace him with a Torres.

Yeah, you sign Torres to play on a line with Matt Cooke.

Rumor has it that Malone is being bought out? Bring him back on the cheap and put him with Malkin and Neal? Sure.

For all of 30 games he'd be healthy for? No thanks. If Tampa buys anyone out it's probably going to be Lecavalier.

Back when that was a huge cap hit. The time when that hit was outrageous was in the past. A buyout makes sense in the last 4 years of the deal when he makes like $6 million. He's still making $10 million/year for a few years.
