Re: Other NHL games
THere's definitely a balance to the line shuffling thing. Too much and lines never establish a feel for each other, you lose the ability for your line changes to produce a spark. Blysma is pretty decent with the timing of his line shuffling, but he's actually bad at putting lines together. Cooke with Malkin and Neal? Ok boss.
The game last night followed the same script as game 1 for the Pens-B's, but Chicago didn't fold in the 3rd period when they went down by 2. It was great watching them throw the puck towards the net knowing that someone else will be there to capitalize. The Pens aimed for top corners all the time, missed the net most of the time. The Hawks last night were throwing pucks off Rask's pads and driving the net. This is Playoff Hockey 101. How did the Pens not try this?

Yeah it was, despite the success of some scrub coaches like Bowman and Babcock who never won anything and changed lines up during games more than MT would attempt. Quennville uses it a lot more than any of the above, imo.Gaucho wrote:I think it was the main argument for firing him among those who wanted to fire him.meecrofilm wrote:I didn't have any real problem when Therrien did it (I don't think, at least).
With a team like the Hawks, they are very used to juggling lines during games and changing them before the next game with Quennville as he has no problem with that concept. I don't necessarily agree with that approach as much as Quennville uses it, but he's a got a ring and he's coaching a team right now for another. The team seems to expect it and he's not afraid to do it. Even after losing some pieces from their SC team, they are right back in it.

What I took from this was that Shero should have drafted Saad.brwi wrote:Yeah it was, despite the success of some scrub coaches like Bowman and Babcock who never won anything and changed lines up during games more than MT would attempt. The Blackhawks wanted Saad so much that they passed him up at 37 for a guy who hasn't even sniffed the NHL.

Re: Other NHL games
And the Pens wanted Letang so much they waited until the 3rd round to draft him, while their 5/6 defenseman Matt Niskanen, was drafted in the 1st. Your point is what exactly?MRandall25 wrote:The Blackhawks wanted Saad so much that they passed him up at 37 for a guy who hasn't even sniffed the NHL.

B's having big trouble recognizing how fast and mobile and seemingly everywhere the Hawks' D can be.
