I've read he is interested in a 2 year contract. If they give him more than a year they are nuts. With a one year they could possibly trade him at the deadline.
Well... the reduced cap sure didn't affect the market that much. GMs just shooting themselves in the foot. Gonchar at $5m per year would mean Letang is like $8M+

Gonchar and the Stars have reached agreement on a 2 yr deal, believed to be $5 mil per, $10 mil total. Pending signed paperwork.

It's not carved in stone, but in spite of what has been said in past, I expect PHI is likely to use compliance buyout on Ilya Bryzgalov.

Wonder how people would feel if Bryz and MAF are both bought out and MAF ends up in Philly.

For the record, I don't see MAF being bought out.
I may quit watching hockey. If he were to become the savior and answer to 30 years' worth of prayers out here, I think I'd have to be institutionalized.

And this is why MAF will not be bought out. People are jumping the gun here.
Stars very happy that they got Sergei Gonchar. Felt they were over-working their D too much (Daley and Robidas mentioned by name), I had to force the name Goligoski into the conversation strangely. Feel that Gonchar will be a great mentor for Joe Morrow. Stars very happy with the depth at D that they've added recently. High-ranking source agreed with me that they've never adequately replaced Sergei Zubov and it has hurt the on-ice product.

I really don't see Bryz being bought out this year.

I'm in the crowd that thinks it's extremely likely they buy him out. Bryz is not an elite goaltender and is also a headcase by even goaltender standards. Flyers would probably rather throw a cheap contract at Timmay Thomas and go ahead and ditch The Bryz, who has a bad contract on a team that is going to need some serious cap relief.
Made a joke about Bryzgalov being bought out at a recent hockey-heavy get together: people closest to the Flyers laughed the hardest and made eye contact. I'm a major social awareness guy and I got the feeling that I was on to something there. Just a weird hunch I got. Feel free to disregard. Hockeyyyiinnssidder, feel free to steal this and call it legit...
I'm probably in the minority, but I would be interested in ditching MAF and signing a freed-up Bryz to a cheap two year deal to compete with Vokoun next year.
He's a head case (OFF the ice), but can certainly play.
