Crosby WILL be in there, but for now I don't think so. Others have impacted more games.

He lost 1 game, and then completely willed his team to victory in another. Amazing effort, but as "MVP" he's only had a huge impact for 1 win really

Not much movement after last night, in my opinion...small update. Recognize Anderson for closing out an elimination game in fine fashion in a tough place to do so...

Doughty has been top 3 for me...dude doesn't let up, make mistakes that can't be made up, or stupid decisions. Logs solid minutes, great work ethic, contributes on both ends. This series has been a highlight reel for him on how to play that style of d.

Yeah, he's very much on my radar. He's been terrific in these playoffs. He always gets serious consideration from me or just flat out makes the list...

silently, really, Malkin is 2nd in playoff points and Iginla/Crosby are tied for 3rd. 71/12 tied for lead league in assists. They're in the "up there" territory to be in the running should the Pens make the SCF. Letang tied with Chara and E. Karlsson for scoring among defensemen. Other two are +5 to 58's +3, while 58 leads in goals and TOI. Would put him in same territory.

Would I rank them now over others at the top of mikey's list? I don't know. Couture and Pavelski also have as many points as Iginla/Crosby, and in the same number of games save Iginla. Don't know that Couture is #1, that's probably Krejci with 11 in 5, which is better than 8 in 4.

For the record, I'm not using stats. I'm using a highly unsophisticated method of just keeping notes of the games that I watch. The players with the best impact, as I saw it personally, make the list.

It's essentially the inverse of shmenguin's patented Butt Index

Malkin may be not the front runner, but he's certainly in the discussion.

He's close. I thought about it. But in terms of overall positive impact on these playoffs, I really do find these other players to have done more for their teams. Hopefully he gets on it with a great series against Ottawa.

He's on my radar, but is he even the best Penguin in these playoffs? I'm not so sure.

To be fair, no, I definitely don't think he deserves consideration. It's about the total game, not just offense, and Geno is lacking, to sag the least, when it comes to his "d".

Thats fair.

@ EPP

I thought his defense in the last 2 games was respectable but I didn't analyze any stats so maybe I'm wrong.

From what i've watched of the series, Doughty would be my choice so far. Dude is unreal. Like canaan said, he just doesn't make mistakes. I wish I could be up for more Kings games.

Dupuis is going to work his way into the conversation if he keeps going at nearly a goal per game. :pop:

lol, agreed on the 5 way tie. so many good players. it's hard to really narrow it down until at least the conference championships.

Its probably a better conversation to start after the Conference finals start, just because you can fairly eliminate everyone that was...eliminated. Though what if there was a team that had a goalie with 7 shutouts and a gaa of 0.50 after 2 rounds, but was eliminated. Do they get consideration for the conn smythe?
