Hmmmmm...I didn't realize that NJ had a lottery pick.
ANd LOL at the Flyers for being just good enough to stay out of it.

Technically, all non-playoff teams are "lottery teams" with the new system. All of the bottom 14 are eligible to pick first overall.columbia wrote:Hmmmmm...I didn't realize that NJ had a lottery pick.

Awesome for the Colorado -> Seth Jones connection that already exists. That's what I was rooting for definitely. And there's no super prospect here, like Crosby vs. Ryan and the field. The top three guys are all very capable "first overall caliber" players, Florida will be just fine.

All 14 non-playoff teams had a chance to get the 1st overall pick.columbia wrote:Hmmmmm...I didn't realize that NJ had a lottery pick.

What happened to "Nathan Mckinnon is supposed to be the next Crosby" talk that was going on in October?mikey287 wrote:Technically, all non-playoff teams are "lottery teams" with the new system. That's just people being silly...Nathan is really good, but he's no Crosby.

Re: COL wins draft lottery
Way better skater than Tavares was when he came out. Nathan MacKinnon is one of the faster prospects available in my cursory look at 2013 so far...Tavares was over-scouted (I was very guilty of this myself) and people knocked his skating a bit, but he's really worked on it and now he's plenty capable...same thing kind of happened to Sean Couturier.
MacKinnon or Drouin, can't really go wrong, both kids can play.

I MacKinnon was a good skater, but I was comparing more on par of the tier of player. I have JT as that step below the top level where Crosby resides. I think that is where MacKinnon will reside throughout much of his career.

Personally, I'm not sure I see him as that good even...but anything can happen, certainly.

Can't believe it wasn't Edmonton. Colorado is good for me, FLA would have been fine too. I like all of the top 3.

Darnell Nurse, every time I see him, is a stud defensively. No one can get by him, very good skater, a great athlete and really good in one-on-one defense in my views of him. I'd prefer the Flyers not pick him, to be honest. Though I didn't click the link.Dickie Dunn wrote:http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschoo ... 03248.html

I saw Nurse play twice this past season. Dude is an eraser. His side of the ice is like a black-hole that no offensive player can come out of with the puck.mikey287 wrote:Darnell Nurse, every time I see him, is a stud defensively.
