I think that's more of a media issue, than a hockey fan issue.
The ones that have paid attention, know what time it is re: Tavares.
The hockey media hasn't decided that promoting his talent is to their financial benefit.

As a member of the PDAS society, I am honor bound to throw in Pascal's name to this list. (I believe Errey had a "homer moment" and mentioned this on last night's broadcast)

Not the best player mentioned in this discussion, but MOST underrated and currently underpaid.

I didn't know people "underrated" Tavares. It seemed like people thought he was great as soon as he was in the league. People just don't talk about him because he's on a team that hasn't been good for a couple of decades.

Mikko Koivu is always on the list for me. In a similar vein, I think Bergeron is still underrated. Dupuis is on the list with the two seasons he's strung together here.
Martin Hanzal (needs to stay healthy, though) seems pretty underrated.
I sense that Hossa is a bit underrated.

Oh yeah, Bergeron too definitely.

Erat is pretty underrated as an offensive player. He puts up respectable numbers over the course of a season in the capital of offensive suck.

I'll say Niklas Backstrom. He's having a nice rebound year and no one is talking about him. Sure he's helped out by OV's resurgence but he has played a part in that as well.

The only time Seidenberg has looked good was with Chara. His skates are annoying too.

Don't agree on him, but the other nik backstrom is underrated. I don't think its a coincidence that Backstrom falls completely off when OV disappears and comes back when Ovechkin gets going again.
