definitely a jag move on kipper's part. if you wanted an NMC, you should've fought for it. its a disservice to his organization.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
I can totally understand Kiper not wanting to uproot a family with a newborn in the house. This is one case where I understand "family reasons" and not just see it as a lame excuse. Maybe he should have let the Flames know quietly instead of going to media about it though. Not the most professional move, but in the long run its only game, why you heff to be mad?

Re: Around the League: Transactions
He's going to. Multiple reports have said that he plans to leave the NHL after this season. Him not wanting to relocate for a month at the end of his final season doesn't scream POS. This is one of the examples where real life is more important than a game.Godric wrote:So then **** retire.Pavel Bure wrote:His wife just had a baby.Godric wrote:Mikka has always been a POSFire0nice228 wrote:I cant believe Kipper... be a pro man.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 23s ...the Edmonton Oilers say they haven't traded Whitney to BOS or anywhere else. That's as of now. No doubt they're trying to move him

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Yeah...let's take it easy on Kiprusoff...he's stuck it out with this sad sack franchise for a decade now...have the Flames ever been serious about blowing it up anyway? Oh no...they don't get a 2nd round pick that they'll probably just trade for Olli Jokinen anyway...Kipper seems like a pretty cool guy all things considered and if he's gonna retire soon anyhow, just let him be...if anything, he's more qualified to run the show in Calgary than anyone, at least he knows exactly what not to do there: bring back any name plate he can remember seeing for the last 10 years.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Hmm...sounds like there's a Ryan Whitney+another player (Paajarvi?) for Alexander Khokhlachev deal on the horizon perhaps between Boston/Edmonton.
For such a rugged team, the Bruins have a soft spot for soft d-men at the deadline...Tomas Kaberle then possibly Ryan Whitney...they could use a puck-mover on the blueline, most of those guys can't really do it...

Khokhlachev is a late healthy scratch tonight, so this could happen soon-ish.

Part of me would love to see the Pens just abuse Whitney in a 7 game series.

I guess the Flames don't want a Briere situation.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 6m
Then BOS prospect Alex Khokhlachev a healthy scratch for Providence tonight and CGY announces Iginla a healthy scratch tonight.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 1m
So it comes as no surprise that BOS and CGY are deep in talks - that's been a given - but CGY may be using BOS offer to leverage PIT/CHI/LA.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Now, I really hope he signs back in Calgary after the season...fans don't get to say goodbye in what could have been Iginla's last home game...? Maybe that's my sentimentality getting in the way, but I have a problem with that. My feelings about Calgary are well known...but to not give Iginla a chance to thank the fans that celebrated him for so long now, to let the fans - whose sole reason for showing up to every game since that Iginla/Nieuwendyk trade is what they got in the deal - show their gratitude is astounding. The C of Red is made up of #12 jerseys and an hour before what could be his last game there, you make him a healthy scratch...
To be honest, I would be furious and then devastated that I didn't realize I had seen his last game in a Flames sweater the other night...it's total **** is what it is. It's the worst organization in hockey and even when they start to get it together and realize they can't compete, they still find a way to **** it up royally for the people that pay the outrageous ticket prices so you can give Dennis Wideman $50 trillion or so you can re-sign Olli Joke-inen for $80 billion...
It's awful to do...it's disgusting that they've treated such a good fan base so poorly...it's total horse**** is what it is...they should be embarrassed.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Pretty sure his contract had one...maybe he made sure to work the nmc in to the point that he was ready to be done if needed, and then after that if he got traded, planned to retire. I have no problem with it.canaan wrote:definitely a jag move on kipper's part. if you wanted an NMC, you should've fought for it. its a disservice to his organization.

Kipper had a NMC that expired after last season, FWIW.

Hey, he's just being honest.
He has no legal requirement to report: no show = no pay and Kipper understands that.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
If I were a Flames fan I definitely would be heartbroken now. I remember when Ray Bourque was traded to Colorado to get a chance at a Cup (and won it, too), but this feels very much different.
