Very cool. I always dig alternate logos.
Biggest improvments:
1. Hurricanes: They should seriously use this simplified design, it works better than anything the team has actually even came up with. Solid black jerseys with just that red would be pretty frickin sweet. Right now their logo is overworked.
2. Predators: The guitar pick is a cool homage to the music city. The Blues already have the classic 'note' theme locked down, but a guitar pick would be a neat counter logo to their division rival. The fact that also subtly looks like a creepy space alien head also makes it pretty cool. Much better then their cartoon saber tooth tiger that looks like he was taken right out of the he-man cartoon series.
3. Dallas: their unis are so blah right now that literally anything would be an improvement in my book. They at least need to get back to their vintage colors, this logo would be a good step foward.
4. Bluejackets: I like the colors, the flag is a little weirdly shaped, but still an improvement over their current scheme.

Worst dropoffs:
Chicago: Its always tough to re-do the vintage teams looks, but the Blackhawks already have maybe the best unis in hockey. And the simplified feather just doesn't do it for me at all.
Detroit: Wasn't too bad at first glance, till I looked over it again and realized it was the target logo with a wing attached. Again, don't mess with the old 6.
Edmonton: The single oil drop just seems pretty corny to me. The Oilers established their dynasty and identity in the 80s, they do not need a re-do at all.
Phoenix: Not digging the paw print or the colors used here. I want them to go back to their 90s funky coyote with the checkered trim. I thought that really captured the feel for the desert team.

i wouldnt call them alternate logos as so much as minimalist takes on logos--but thats just semantics.

Very minimalist, limited themselves to only using two colors for each team (which made some of them kind of tricky to pull off).
For some teams, especially the ones that began in the 90s and beyond the trimmed down effects were really a benefit. For others, especially the old 6, it was tough to re-do an already vintage look. I thought the Habs, Leafs, and Bruins came off okay at least. The Hawks and the Wings were definitly the two worst.

(Oh, and how optimistic: No mention of the name “Phoenix” on the belt. As you know, when their sale is closed, the team will become the Arizona Coyotes.)
is this true?

Only found a couple men in that pic not wearing a suit. off to the left, plaid shirt, and right behind the goalie next to the goal judge. I can't imagine wearing a suit every day to work, let alone to a hockey game or other sporting event.

I wear one to weddings and some years on Easter.

Assuming the seats and angles in the old MSG were as brutal as the old Boston Garden, I'm surprised there aren't more.

For those of you who found it impressive that Vitale went a calendar year without a goal, Calgary has gone over a calendar year without a 3 game win streak.

A couple seasons ago I was heading to a game after work and forgot my change of clothes. I had to go to the game in dress shirt, dress pants, and a tie. I ditched the tie after I realized I was wearing it tho. I felt like a complete chump.

If you're wearing a dress shirt and pants, you can easily make it casual enough by unbuttoning the top two buttons on the shirt and untucking it. I have no problem walking around like that. Bonus points for rolling up sleeves.

I'm with you on the sleeves and the buttons, but the untuck? That part gets so wrinkled, I never untuck

If a part of my shirt gets wrinkled, its on the sides at my hip. That doesn't often happen though. I have also pushed the dress code at work to the point that I haven't tucked a shirt in since my last internal interview.

I went to the 1998 draft straight from my college interview so I was wearing a suit in the arena. I put my pens jersey on over my dress shirt and tie. People thought I was drafted so I signed a ton of autographs.
