Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
To my fellow IPA fans... you NEED to try Great Lakes newest seasonal. It's called Alchemy Hour Double IPA. It's delicious. Maybe my favorite DIPA/Imperial ipa out there. It's amazing... I think I'm in love!

My wife's aunt and uncle live about an hour from Cooperstown. Their basement is also quite awesome (sorry for crappy quality)

I don't drink a lot of Belgians, so the increased yeast content will definitely be a challenge ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I had a Wild Heaven Invocation at my neighbor gastropub:

An 89 rating seems a bit high, but very tasty.

Long-due trip to Jiggle brought home Gulden Draak and Lees HarvestAle 08. Popping open after the Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout.

Belgian Strong Dark Ales aren't typically in your rotation are they? Makes sense that you'd like them, though. If you like that Gulden Draak you're opened up to a bunch of other stuff, I think.Eismann wrote:Long-due trip to Jiggle brought home Gulden Draak and Lees HarvestAle 08. Belgians in general aren't, that's true. However, I do like Trappistes, and generally darks imenotracist, so I'm hoping i would indeed be open to a few new types, e.g. quads.
Thinking about trying it this afternoon.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I love, love, love that beer. I'm enjoying a La Trappe quad right now. The only trappist I have not been able to get a hold of is the Achel. The St. Bernardus holds its own with any of the trappist beers, though, and is definitely my favorite non-trappist Belgian.shmenguin wrote:Belgian quads begin and end with st bernardus abt 12

Having Southern Tier Backburner now. Wow, excellent. I've never been a barley wine fan, but so happy I tried this. Not too sweet with a nice hop finish to balance it.

Holy cow, I'm having a maltgasm with the Harvest Ale. Syrup-like color and feel. Extremely clean finish.Eismann wrote:Long-due trip to Jiggle brought home Gulden Draak and Lees HarvestAle 08. Popping open after the Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout.

Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron, potent smell when first opened. Drinking from a bottle, and at first it tastes like a Jack and Coke, with a coffee finish. Great beer.

I agree... that one needs to be poured into a nice wide-rimmed glass or snifter.Kraftster wrote:Eww, from the bottle? Set that thing free!
