DiPietro to Bridgeport...
The Newsday beat writer says Ricky D. will be put on waivers at noon.
Kevin Poulin will be called up.
Eight more years left on that contract.

Re: DiPietro to Bridgeport...
What's the purpose? Is he working back from injury? Or is he simply sucking this year? Hard to replace Nabokov these days now that he's accepted his fate on Long Island.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
#Isles will place Rick DiPietro on waivers at noon.
Possibly the safest waiver placement ever? Who is going to claim DiPietro with 8 years @ $4.5-mil per left on his contract?

I should totally go troll the "main" board. It's littered with Fleury haters, and would be way too much fun suggesting GMRS claim DiPietro.

I could see a team in need of a goalie picking up Dipietro on the off chance he works out and then buys him out at the end of the season. Who he goes to I am not sure, but I could certainly see someone taking a flyer out on him

If the Flyers had any cap space, I could see them claiming him. He'd be a better backup than Leighton or Boucher.Rylan wrote:I could see a team in need of a goalie picking up Dipietro on the off chance he works out and then buys him out at the end of the season. If by too much fun you mean no fun at all I agree.tfrizz wrote:I should totally go troll the "main" board. It's littered with Fleury haters, and would be way too much fun suggesting GMRS claim DiPietro.

Maybe Columbus with the failures of Sergei "YOU'RE OFF THE FORCE" BOBROVSKY and Steve "One Hit Wonder" Mason.

Bobrovsky was pretty much the sole reason they won last night. Any of their supposed "failings" is because the Jackets **** suck.Rylan wrote:Maybe Columbus with the failures of Sergei "YOU'RE OFF THE FORCE" BOBROVSKY and Steve "One Hit Wonder" Mason.

Re: DiPietro to Bridgeport...
Eh, he has not had many quality starts this season and statistically he has been inconsistent at best. If he starts trending upwards that is fine, but the times I have seen him (not many) he has not looked particularly very good.

Re: DiPietro to Bridgeport...
He hasn't had many "quality" starts because the team D in front of him is porous, at best. He has games where he can keep them in it, but you can only do so much.Rylan wrote:Eh, he has not had many quality starts this season and statistically he has been inconsistent at best. there is little to no chance that a team would pick him up on waivers. he should be bought out at the season end and then work for a contract on a backup basis. dont know why anybody in their right mind would take a flyer on that contract.

He seemed to have a promising career ahead of him, so yea, I kind of feel bad that he has been so riddled with injuries.Pitt87 wrote:Are you kidding!? The guy gets a 7 year, $30 million vacation, and you feel bad for him?Froggy wrote:I almost feel sorry for the guy

But, yes, all that $$$ is a consolation.

Re: DiPietro to Bridgeport...
They'd almost have to trade him and a pick to a team that could afford to buy him out for free. They're poor.canaan wrote:there is little to no chance that a team would pick him up on waivers. he should be bought out at the season end and then work for a contract on a backup basis. dont know why anybody in their right mind would take a flyer on that contract.
