+1

I'm starting to actively dislike the show. Rick annoys the piss out of me and I wouldn't mind seeing him and about 60% of the other "main" characters get eaten.

I didn't dislike the episode, but now that I really think about it... yeah, a lot of the characters do annoy me.

Most characters annoy me. I haven't watched the episode yet, but on my way to work, I was thinking about how I don't really care if I see it or not.

Well lets be honest, i'm gonna be watching it tonight. I thought I was in good shape too, Pens were blacked out. There were more important things to do though.

aside from the opening scene, there were a few other issues...

-ok one more thing about the opening scene - those generic woodbury people turned evil pretty quick, no? it's weird that suddenly they got all bloodthirsty for some reason and then the next day got all incredulous when a dude got bit and had to be put down.
-andrea in general, of course, but more specifically her speech. jesus...
-those new people in the prison were all ready to take on a bunch of people carrying guns with a couple of shovels in order to stay in the prison, but the right when they win almost everyone over, they just leave like it's no big deal when rick goes all nutso. does not compute.

What happened in the last few minutes? My DVR cut off after Hershell told Rick he was making a mistake by not allowing the new cardboard characters to stick around.

Yeah the whole Woodbury revolt was a little rough...they have fought hard and have had zombies get in before and have lost people (it has been mentioned in previous episodes)...then a little goes haywire and the whole town is storming the gates and wants out when there are tons of zombies outside...then they get a 30 second speech about the history books...then its all OK. And the towns acting throughout that series of events...like someone directed "ok be angry" then halfway through "ok now be happy!"

he sees ghost lori (with her face blacked out) up the stairs and flips out. he tells ghost lori to leave and the new people think he's talking to them even though he's facing the other way and up at a 60 degree angle. so the new people are like, "okee dokee, if you say so" and they walk away.

And Merrill is just an overall awful character.
I'm not suprised you didn't like it.

I think the Michonne character was the absolute worst so far.

Everything else was comic styled, but portrayed in a real world setting. Michonne is the argument against that, and they have literally zero direction with her.

Michonne is just terrible. I never read the comics so maybe she was a terrible character there too, but they should have done something with her if they wanted to put her in the show. Right now she's a practically mute woman who doesn't do anything but scowl and wave her sword around. The "stand off" with her and the rest of the gang after they left Mayberry was so ridiculous that it would have been laughable in a cheap b movie, let alone one of the most popular shows on TV.

You don't like her 24/7/365 pouting?

I think if there was a reason this way I would accept it. However they've done zero backstory on her and she's just...there. They have no development like Canaan said.

I have zero investment in her and wouldn't care if she got killed.

Glenn comments:
Spoiler:
Easy to see they're arching him up to be killed at the end of the season. His demeanors changing and he's losing faith, it'll take that one last moment for him to figure it out, only to be killed.

To be fair, Michonne seems to be the only character in the show right now that isn't a complete moron, so the miserable attitude she has makes sense.

Meh. Losing interest.

I know Andrew Lincoln is a Brit, but it really seems he chews his words a bit much. Maybe it's hard to have a Southern accent and yell at people? Damian Lewis does such a good job on Homeland and Band of Brothers, but Lincoln struggles.

Too many annoying characters and mood swings.

Yeah but it's not just this episode. It's EVERY episode. Come on people. Not every episode is going to be a homerun. I remember lots of people saying how crappy the mid season finale was. What more do you want?

Given that its an AMC show, people expect good acting of good characters in a good story.
