No way that is real? Not from the leader in sports. I am serious, is that a joke? If not, that is inexcusable. How does that past the fact checker?

Sure it looks bad, but I'm not sure I'd call it inexcusable.

Dan Rosen @drosennhl
Brian Boyle is scratched for the Rangers. Tortorella said he wants Boyle "to be miserable" watching the game.

I love Torts. He's so comically perfect for the Rangers.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
So there's not really a trade? Complete bull****!! Now the B's get cap relief to improve. Every gm in nhl should be protesting, cuz Thomas isn't gonna report.Gaucho wrote:I agree, because:
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The Boston Bruins only get a draft pick from the Islanders for Tim Thomas if he reports to them or any other team if NYI trade his rights.
Otherwise, the benefit for BOS is gaining cap space Thomas was eating up because he's on a 35+ contract. Counts against cap no matter what.
Which is ideal for NYI. No acquisition price. NYI can toll contract to next year if they like, continue to get cap benefit in perpetuity.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Well technically with the new CBA you are allowed to trade cap space anyways right?

Re: Around the League: Transactions
That's the thing. Boston is just giving the contract away. There's no actual trade here, unless I'm missing something.

Jack Edwards said that with this trade and LTIR-ing Marc Savard, the Bruins could have up to $11 million worth of cap space at the deadline.

So, you're saying they might add a back up goaltender?Digitalgypsy66 wrote:Jack Edwards said that with this trade and LTIR-ing Marc Savard, the Bruins could have up to $11 million worth of cap space at the deadline.

My head would explode if they traded for Luongo. Re: Around the League: Transactions
I don't have a problem with the trade. The Bruins had a player quit on them with a 35+ contract. The players wanted unhealthy franchises so they got them. This deal will not be pertinent anyway, it's basically a one-shot deal. I have no problem with it. It's creative accounting.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Weird. Ellerby isn't a prize pig. But he was a former 10th overall pick and on Florida's roster. We got the same return for Lovejoy. So by that metric, we did pretty good for ourselves. Good size and skating, Kings blueline is in shambles at the moment...essentially Loktionov for Ellerby indirectly.

Basically a 3 way deal. That pick came from NJ.mikey287 wrote:Weird. Ellerby isn't a prize pig. But he was a former 10th overall pick and on Florida's roster. We got the same return for Lovejoy. I don't think the Kings are in a situation where they can land a big fish.
