they were never out of the season...it's not like they suck.
I was trying to will it to happen. The angst and fretting over the Flyers here in SE PA was my fuel.
I agree 100%. They still are struggling. Two wins doesn't exactly change things. They have two easy games at home to come, then they will go on a 6 game road trip.

Florida and Carolina are two very winnable games for them. I fully expect then to be 6-6 after that.

Vinny should be Sid's winger. (I know Vinny is a center....)

I've forgotten what a Flyers-free playoffs is like. I need a one-year break from the madness and tension. :D

That Adam Oates experiment in Washington is really working out well for them.

I'll never, ever forget the absolute collective Vesuvius-like meltdown in 2002 when the Flyers traded for Oates and gave up their prized goaltender prospect Maxime Ouellet and their 1st, 2nd ,and 3rd-round draft picks in that year's draft. OMG. Too bad Ouellet turned out to be nothing.

In other games, Brandon Dubisnky tried to kill Rob Scuderi. Sort of similar to the Bernier hit in Game 6, except Dubinsky used his elbow to push Scuds' head into the boards.

Got 5 for boarding and a game misconduct. Definitely going to get at least 2 games for it.

That was a terrible hit and I am thinking 3 minimum and maybe a game or two extra. Real punk move by Dubinsky.

Saad scores his first NHL goal against the Sharks. Good for the local kid.

IIRC, free agency back in that day started at midnight on July 1. And the very first free agent signing on July 1 was Adam Oates to Anaheim. They got 19 games out of him, if I'm remembering right...Ouellet and the picks turned out to be nothing I think, but even so, that's a lot of value...and even though the picks didn't turn out, the Flyers still probably lost the trade...

Retro 1980's game Sharks vs Hawks, six goals in the first 8 minutes of the game.

So something I noticed last night at the Kings-Jackets game:

Both teams started trying the James Neal faceoff play, and I have honestly never seen that done outside the Pens.

Was it a "newish" thing last year, or had it been used prior, and the Pens just made the most of it?

Marleau and Thornton combined for 0 points in the last 4 games. Spring must be coming.

I think his downfall has a lot to do with no more Boohoodreau than anything else. He didn't like Hunter, he probably doesn't like Oates...He needs a coach that coddles him. Neither of the latter will do that.

I wish I could find the article itself, but a few years ago Tarik El-Bashir asked him about looking bigger when he got to training camp and Ovechkin told him he took some injections in Russia.

You can't prove that Ovechkin took anything illicit, , but there are definitely some reasonable suspicions.

Ovie is a shell of his former self, and its funny how that all seems to go back to when the Caps official team chiropractor was busted for trafficking in controlled substances.

The numbers don’t lie, and neither does the eyeball test. He no longer looks like a superhuman flying around out there, just another talented Russian with a great shot that avoids the dirty work required for winning hockey games.

Ovies Stats from 2007: March 23, 2010 when Owen Nagel was arrested for trafficking steroids:
222 Games 166 Goals; 153 Assists; 318 Points; 1.432 points per game; +77; 1,295 SOG

Ovies Stats from March 23rd 2010:today
177 games; 78 Goals; 78 Assists; 156 Points; .881 points per game; +18; 751 SOG

Trading Goligoski? He doesn't look like he's played that poorly.
