Just a reminder that the Flyers are back in sole possession of 30th place in the NHL.

Re: Other NHL games
I have watch 2+ hockey games per day, and most have been so competitive. It is almost like playoff hockey every time, very exciting games so far.

Holtby has been left out to dry. I don't think he is the problem in Rock the Red Territory.

Re: Other NHL games
I watched about a periods worth of the Carolina game (switching back and forth).
I saw Jordan Staal miss an open net (well he put it right into the goalie who was sprawled out laying on the ice), and then he turned the puck over at his own blue line.
Not an ideal loss for Pittsburgh by any means, but I don't feel like the drop off, though it exists, will be quite as big.

schenn #2 get's a call from shanahan

i'm glad this hit got attention from the league. with pretty much everyone recovered from their respective head injuries, it's been easy to forget that these types of hits are a big problemo.

Re: Other NHL games
I couldnt believe there wasnt a penalty on that. It was pretty clear to me in real time he left his feet, and with an official standing right there. What I could believe tho is the announcers praising the hit and even after repeated replays, not once mentioning he was at least close to leaving his feet.

standing right there and it looks like staring right at the hit. hopefully this guy is reminded of the whole head trauma thingy. might want to watch out for the leaping forearms to the head, guy.DudeMan2766 wrote:I couldnt believe there wasnt a penalty on that. Re: Other NHL games
Correct, Holtby is awesome. The Capitals don't seem very organized above all...they check out of games early and often it seems...they already ditched a coach, they tried to buy some heart, it seems like a team that could hit the panic button faster than most. Little do they realize that they are just doomed to be unsuccessful...they're just a bad franchise, I hope there's no rush to change almost 40 years of failure.Rylan wrote:Holtby has been left out to dry. #HartnellDownFlyers winger Scott Hartnell is out indefinitely with a left foot injury, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Hartnell was hit by a shot from the point from defenseman Kimmo Timonen in the third period of Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils in Newark.
"Scott will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury," Holmgren said in a statement. "We will know more on this within a day or two as we await results of tests."
The Flyers' leading goal-scorer last season, Hartnell was absent from practice Wednesday. Danny Briere, who is working his way back from a wrist injury, took his spot on the top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.
He was up on his feet and walking around after Tuesday's game, but did so with some difficulty and had an ice pack taped to his foot.

This is bad news for them, especially with Briere not quite ready. Simmonds may end up on the top line. Aside from Giroux and Voracek (a talent drop-off there), they'll have a bunch of kids and 4th liners.
Alrighty then! Game on!
