ie Why do VAN a favor?
If they don't want him now, they really wont want him a year from now.

That said I wouldn't be shocked if it was the Flyers. Not sure who they'd need to get rid of besides Bryz. Who the heck would want him though?

Re: Around the League: Transactions
I could see there being a healthy market for Luongo. I know he (justifiably) gets a lot of flak for failing to come through in the clutch, but there are plenty of teams out there who haven't had a decent starting goalie for a long time and would presumably welcome someone like Luongo (absurdly long contract and all).
It's a little off the wall and pretty doubtful, but I was wondering if it might make sense for the Devils to make this trade. If this is Brodeur's last year and they don't have a blue-chip goalie prospect, they could get Luongo now, use him as Brodeur's back-up this season, and then hand him the reins next year.

How many games does a player have to miss before they, and their salary, can be LTIRed?

Re: Around the League: Transactions
It could be the GM stirring the pot trying to get teams who were intrested in him to give up more?? Notably Toronto and Florida. Thoes 2 teams are not offering much since they figure they can try and sign him once he is bought out.
Most teams want to unload salary on Vancouver and take their bad salary. Vancouver is stupid to think someone will over a gold mine for him. Wait til next season when Van. buys him out and sign him then.

Holmgren put the fire out on the Luongo to Philly news before the season started. I doubt they would try and get him.sniper wrote:That said I wouldn't be shocked if it was the Flyers. Not sure who they'd need to get rid of besides Bryz. Who the heck would want him though?
Who would want him? A team that needs a goalie and gets them under the cap. Yeah Luongo falters in tough sistuations, but if your a team who has cap space to burn and for the time being just want to get into the postseason then Bobby Lou is your man.

That's odd, he's way better than Martin after all.
Kidding aside, welcome back and all the best, Mark.

So "if" there is a team Vancouver is waiting on, it could be the Cryers waiting to LTIR Pronger?mikey287 wrote:10 games and 21 days.

He was on LTIR from last season. He doesn't count against their cap currently.ville5 wrote:So "if" there is a team Vancouver is waiting on, it could be the Cryers waiting to LTIR Pronger?mikey287 wrote:10 games and 21 days.

Cool thanks. Didn't know if that carried over or started again with the new cap year.Kovy27 wrote:He was on LTIR from last season. Re: Around the League: Transactions
Bleh, gray area. It doesn't "carry over" because you can't be on IR in the offseason (i.e., he counts fully in the offseason) but he probably doesn't count starting even day 1 of the season. Ya know what, what Kovy said is just fine...forget I said anything...ville5 wrote:Cool thanks. Yep, here you go. They had to do something with #HartnellDown so long.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Arnott seems like he's basically finished...I guess this is an indictment of Brian Boyle as the third line center...Arnott isn't really stellar defensively himself, let's see what Tortorella does with him...
