Re: Around the League: Transactions
Uncle Lou is getting old.
But seriously i think this deal is a product of him losing Parise plain and simple. The devils have always been high on zajac and they didn't want to risk another parise. The fact that Parise strung the devils along til the 11th hour then signed in minny really hurt Lou

At what price? He's not a bad player, but that's a lot of money for the production.mikey287 wrote:<--- Loves Travis Zajac.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Probably not $5.75 million to be honest, but he's not far off of that. He's very good defensively and he can produce with those wingers. He's underrated in all facets, so at first glance this looks like a major overpayment...but it's only minor...I guess that's the best way to put it.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
I think it's still a 1mil overpayment at the minimum. He's a decent two-way center, but he's getting paid more than kesler.mikey287 wrote:Probably not $5.75 million to be honest, but he's not far off of that. Guess I'm not the only one who thinks the Zajac deal is a bit excessive.

I guess I feel lucky that our expensive forwards don't require an explanation from hockey nerds why they're good.Gaucho wrote:Guess I'm not the only one who thinks the Zajac deal is a bit excessive.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Not far off at all, but it does prevent them from adding offensive weapons. They already had limited offense outside the top 2 guys, and if Kovachoo really does end up back in Russia, they could be in a seriously dire situation.mikey287 wrote:Probably not $5.75 million to be honest, but he's not far off of that. Not sure about Zajac deal. Maybe slight overpayment given current cap. It will look bad next year.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
I'm a fan of Zajac, but I want to see him sans Zach Parise before I make a decision on the contract. The year Parise missed with his injury Zajac only managed 44 points in 82 games.

They'll add Redden and he'll look like a Norris candidate.Kovy27 wrote:Red Wings and Wade Redden.

Lilja sent to AHL and only saves the Flyers $100K on the salary cap under the new rules. Fantastic.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
No guarantees but Wade Redden may agree to terms with an NHL team as early as tonight. Gomez not likely tonight but in next day or so.

Relax:
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Multiple teams considering options on both. LA, STL, TOR, FLA among those kicking tires on Redden, ANA and CAR among those considering Gomez

Kovalev signs one-year deal with FLA. Is this old news? I only remember hearing about him getting tryout.
