Stuck if he retires, I assume that wouldn't prevent them from doing a compliance buyout. I don't think they well anyway.

They are "stuck" with it, but since they can afford to just IR him (thus taking the cap hit off the books) and sign someone to take up that space its a non factor for them (ala Savard in BOS)

They don't need to just yet. Bryz excels behind a good defense. Unfortunately for him the Flyers defense stinks. They will be fine cap wise with Timonen's 6.3 million off the books after this year. If he really blows they only buy him out if there's something better via free agency.

When I was boning up on rosters across the league, I forgot that Matt Carle went to Tampa Bay...that was my one big "wait, what the hell...?"

Pretty much this. If he plays well, that cap hit is Martinesque...it becomes tolerable. And yeah, you bring up Timonen, Bryz is certainly not the worst cap hit on that team.

Timonen more than carries his weight.

Bryz is the highest cap hit next year, and if he does excel behind a good defense they'll likely spend more than Timonen's hit to get the best available defender, if not in dollars in terms of cap weight. This, and they their most productive offensive player signed after 2014 is Scott Hartnell... not a good situation up front. There's potential for this to be a choice between how many of the young guys and keeping the goaltender/defense intact.

Despite some denials, the tweet earlier from @EnricoCiccone is accurate. The Flyers are interested in Roberto Luongo.
and the denver post writer both saying flyers interested in Luongo.

And if that doesn't work out they can still go after after DiPietro, right?

DiPietro when healthy can be a good netminder.

He struggled mightily in Germany's 2nd division. DiPietro, that is.

Dipstick is wrecked now, but he was going to be really good...terrific talent.

Fun fact: I own a Rick DiPietro Isles jersey...

From Toronto they seem to want a Kadri+Bozak or Kadri+Gardiner. ...I don't care for Kadri, he's a non-factor for me...the thing I don't get is how the value of Gardiner is at all similar to the value of Bozak...

I think if it was Kadri+Bozak for Luongo the deal will be done at the same second the CBA is ratified...because that's a great deal for Toronto. But I say that never being impressed by either Kadri or Bozak...

The Islanders were one of my favorite teams until the whole brawl thing. But I am a hugh Tavares fan as well as a DiPietro fan.

The buzz on HF, inspired by an Adrian Dater tweet, is that Canucks want Grossmann, but that's unlikely, so they'll ask for Brayden Schenn.

adater ‏@adater
If unlikely Canucks get Grossman for Luongo, backup ask is for Schenn

adater‏@adater
@FlyersNation @jsaquella Sorry. Brayden

Oh, yes, please. Funny that VAN would value Grossmann > B. Schenn, no?
