Lack of planning leaves me with one beer.
Damn the retail closings on XMas day

Good news, the Walgreens 2 miles away was open and I picked up a 6 pack of Stella for $11.columbia wrote:Sorry to hear....that ain't good.

Strangely enough, a growler of Aureus may be a bit much. I love it, but it's perhaps a bit much to drink mass quantities in a sitting.

Popped the Samichlaus to start, then rolled with the Brooklyn Browns.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
That could be a bad idea. Excedrin contains acetaminophen (a.k.a. Tylenol), and mixing alcohol with acetaminophen carries the risk of significant liver damage. The risk is worse for people who are fairly heavy drinkers (for example, the sort of people who regularly drink so much that they have nasty hangovers).ExPatriatePen wrote:So another day of waking up dehydrated.
What do you folks do to reduce the effects of dehydration? I saw a post by Lt. Dish last night where she downed a Gatorade and took some Excedrin as a 'Pre-emptive strike'.
Anyone else?

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Tried Pumking. Taste wise it's not bad, but it has the smell of whatever bothered me with that Purple Haze I tried over the summer... And that ruins it for me. Oh well.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Decided to try Magic Hat Heart of Darkness stout tonight. I don't really like Magic Hat, but it was a well-reviewed stout so I thought I would give it a shot.
Yuck....I think it's readily apparent that I just don't like Magic Hat beers. It has a really weird smell...the initial taste isn't bad, but oh god the aftertaste is horribly acrid. It's the thinnest "stout" I've ever had. I think that's probably the last beer I have by them.

Magic Hat has declined over the years. Think they expanded too much too fast.

Another reason the guys at DFH impress me so much:MWB wrote:Magic Hat has declined over the years. Think they expanded too much too fast.

That's actually one reason why I respect Sam Adams. For as large as they have gotten, the beer quality hasn't really declined at all

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Agree completely. It's way more an IPA than a stout, and not well made. I still have a few in the fridge that I won't touch. They know bitter, and that's about it. I feel the same way about Troegs. Nothing wrong with it, just not my profile.shafnutz05 wrote:Decided to try Magic Hat Heart of Darkness stout tonight. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I picked up this bad boy the other night and, all in all, they were all darn good. I can't think of a Harpoon beer that I haven't liked.
Also, Rogue Double Chocolate Stout was fantastic.
Does anyone use the BrewskiMe App?

It still feels weird, even after spending a great Christmas at the in-laws, that I don't really have to go back to work for another 7 days

Anderson Valley Winter Solstice = sooooo underrated. Very smooth, especially for a winter beer.

I stopped by Troegs last night before the Bears/Pens game. Had Scratch #82, a Belgian Triple that was pretty tasty.

Had Dark Hollow stout today. Very good. Bills itself as an imperial stout, but doesn't have that taste. Bourbon barrel aged. Very smooth. Reminds me of Dragons Milk.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Greetings! I'm back from W. PA. It's just as I left it the last time, and that's a comforting thing.Shyster wrote:That could be a bad idea. Excedrin contains acetaminophen (a.k.a. Yes, Shyster's correct. I figure my risk is low since I'm a very light social drinker and get a good load-on requiring a hangover remedy very rarely these days (maybe once a year, and that's optimistic). I'm small and it doesn't take much. Last Saturday night's was my 2012 bender, in under the wire. I'll add that I had a ton of water before I left the partay. At any rate, the G2 and Excedrin did the trick.
Back in the day at PSU we'd always stop at Roy Rogers for a large pink lemonade before heading home. It was miraculous. Or maybe we were so drunk we fooled ourselves into thinking so.
