Wow....Factorial....

We both post in the beer thread at exactly the same time.

We are both having a Russian Imperial Stout.

This is the strongest beer I have ever had (12.5%). What's stronger?

I also bought a pint and half bottle of Double Bastard Ale and have to finish it as I am flying home tomorrow.

Checked out East End's new digs this weekend. Slartibartfast was good... but they said that they will have several small batches out closer to Christmas...

Finally making it to the Double Bastard Ale. A bit of a letdown after the Clown Shoes. It's good but tastes a bit forced. Kind of like condensed milk vs real milk.

shafnutz05 wrote:Trying Storm King Stout again tonight. I dunno....I love Victory, and I love stouts. But for some reason, the taste just doesn't sit well with me. A little more hoppy than I am used to...then again, it is a Russian Imperial. Not bad, but far from my favorite stout.
Shaf, I'm still working on the case of this I bought awhile ago. I mix it half and half with Yuengling black and tan so I can have more than one.

Also I drove past the sign for Paoli Pike on my way to the Philly airport last week so I'll be stopping by tomorrow night on my way back in Lancaster.

:thumb: Route 30 to US-202? Nice. That's the other end of Paoli Pike.

There are so few pumpkin ales worth drinking that it's not a fair judge of what the brewery is capable of. Some of my favorite breweries produce HORRID seasonal (pumpkin or otherwise) beers. I've never had the Unita pumpkin so I can't speak to it, I just know that everything else I've had from them has been really good.

Just in terms of RIS there are a number that are stronger, most are bourbon barrel aged. Three Floyds makes a good one, I think around 14%. My favorite aged RIS is from Dark Horse, it's called Plead the Fifth.

Barleywines are a whole other category. Most of those START at 9-10%. Founders Bolt cutter is a 15%-er and He'Brew Jewbilation Sweet Sixteen is 16% (not a barleywine just an American Strong Ale).

Yep. The He'Brew line is brewed by Schmaltz brewing company in NY. All their beers have names like that.

Split a bottle with a coworker and loved it. Medium body, complex spices. Good stuff.

Good to hear. I loved the 2011 and was disappointed that I only got to drink one bottle.

Mmm. I really should get out to Mad Mex for Happy Hour today. North Hills location has Corsendonk Christmas, Troegs Mad Elf, and Victory Moonglow. Mad Elf for like $3, even at a 12 oz. pour, during happy hour can screw you up real good.
