The place was very nice, it looked like they were doing some work outside on the grounds, but everything was new and clean inside. It was cold and everyone was packed inside so it was a little crowded (even though they had a nice outdoor patio with space heaters). We went at noon and I was surprised that many people were there, by the time we left it was a mad house, parking was limited. We ate down the road before we got there so we could concentrate on drinking, but the food did look pretty good (very limited selection)

They were expanding the other side, but you couldn't get in, they could certainly use more bar space. The prices were actually really good, much cheaper there than I've seen at distributors and as a result a lot of traffic just to pick up a case or two. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. My brother went earlier in the year when it was nice and said it was so crowded that it was a pain to get up to the bar to get a drink.

I'm looking forward to getting back up there when the weather is nice, the grounds are top notch, highly recommend if you are in the area.

Lake Chataqua and Jamestown is close by, both extremely nice places for B&Bs and a visit to the brewery. Our camp is 20 minutes away so it's become my family's goto place.

I had the Church Brew Works Pumpkin beer (draught) the other day. Don't know the name, it was on tap at the Carlton. The bartender just called it pumpkin beer.

I really, really liked it.

Just wrap it all up and I'll take it home.

Had Shiner Holiday Cheer this weekend. What the heck are peaches and pecans doing in beer? Not sure, but the combination was interesting in a pleasing way. Two pints were enough, though.

I was never much an IPA drinker, but I've pretty much revolted altogether:
WE GET IT, THIS BEER HAS ADDITIONAL HOPS.

It just seems a bit overplayed.

I have not. I saw Great Lakes Christmas Ale at Whole Foods, but it was only in six packs and all I wanted were a couple singles.

That being said, Flying Dog's Raging Bword was an enjoyable Belgian IPA, and I am not a fan of Belgians.

Yeah, I generally only like to sample one or two holiday beers from a brewer, but thought I'd take a chance with ST.

Recommend Brooklyn Brown Ale and He'Brew Messiah. Also, my fave Old Peculier, while not technically a brown, has much of the same character and you might enjoy it.

Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout...best $3.99 I can spend.

Now I'm washing it down with Dogfish Head 60mins IPA.

Good night, so far. :thumb:

Yes, the ST winter is good. It was very flavorful. I'm on the lookout for the ST x-mas beer.

if you get a chance, pick up Southern Tiers OAT (imperial oatmeal stout), it is incredible and unlike their other blackwater series (choklat, mokah, jahva, etc) this thing has some drinkibility, not just a desert. It was easily my favorite beer at the brewery and one of the best I've had of recent, check it out. and at 10.8%, a bomber or two warms you up nicely.

I had to make an unnecessary trip earlier this morning for work, so I decided to kill some time at the bottle shop, afterwards:
