Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
Made some homemade mozzarella cheese the other night. It (surprisingly) tasted great.
The milk straight from the cow's utters.
boiling to 90 degrees
waiting for it to curdle
kneading out all the air
finished product.

lol.
I did not milk the cow. Honestly I had little part in making the cheese either, my fiancee's mom did. But I kneaded it a ton

I baked some rainbow trout, that had been marinated with a basil paste, olive oil, garlic etc.
Very simple. Very delicious.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
popped a couple pork sirloin roasts in the slow cooker tonight (about 5.5lbs total). Making pulled port.
Put a rub of pork rub, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper on, seared it, then put it in the slow cooker with a half gallon jug of apple cider, a few dashes of a hot sauce, worchestershire, and topped it off with root beer b/c the cider didn't cover the roasts totally (had about 1/2 an inch left) and to mellow out the hot sauce.

To the great 'cook' that must have added monosodium glutamate to all parts of my lunch Wednesday, I will upon you a nice sharpened bamboo doused in cinnamon oil under the fingernail cleaning. After ordering a working lunch from the "new ownership" Chinese place down the street that claims it doesn't use MSG, (so says a co-worker) I ended up with a headache that no aspirin could cure. MSG is the spice of the evil.

Pecan pie, apple pie, or cheesecake with cranberries are also good options.mac5155 wrote:Sweet Potato pie. It's close to pumpkin though..Letang Is The Truth wrote:what is a good non=pumpkin related thanksgiving dessert?

Pecan and caramel apple walnut pie are two favorites for me. Or an apple walnut cake cooked in a bundt pan sprinkled with powdered sugar.

I had a GF, who made the best coconut macaroons.
I don't miss her, but I sure do miss those macaroons.

If you want a more unique yet traditional Thanksgiving dessert, and if you can find some pulp for sale, you could try a persimmon pudding.Letang Is The Truth wrote:i want avoid pecan pie. we have that every thanksgiving. i was looking for something a little more unique

MSG is the root of 'umami', the so-called 'fifth taste'.BigMcK wrote:MSG is the spice of the evil.
