A very good Kolsch. Totally sessionable, wish I had more than just a single pint.

Just downed some Weihenstephaner @ Sharpedge. Had some Mediterranean Nachos, stuffed pretzel bites and pizza. Probably the best meal I've had @ Sharpedge tbh.

Yeah... Sharpedge had it on their list, but they were out. I might get to try it some day.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Cascade Strawberry tonight. 2011 version. It will be exciting if east coast breweries start experimenting with this kind of stuff. It'd be nice to have a better baseline.
The nose on this one is pretty awesome because of the fresh strawberries smell. I really had doubts about how that would work with the funky, bretty, tartness but its smells awesome. The taste doesn't quite deliver the same strawberry punch which is probably for the best. Overall its probably a milder american wild/sour, probably a good one to start someone on. Cool color too, like a pinkish/blush gold. Happy I got one to try, now I can focus on others when I finally get to Cascade someday.

Has anyone ever seen the Victory kolsch? Its highly rated, and I think I could really get into Kolsches but I don't recall ever seeing it.

I'm thinking I'm going to get the Ommegang sampler available at Beer Nutz in the North Hills for my camping trip in a few weeks. 6xHennepin, 6xAbbey Ale, 6xThree Philosophers, and 6x can't think of what the fourth is. $61. Trying to decide whether my friends are worth that sort of outlay.

I had the Ommegang Biere D'Hougoumont last night on draft. It was delicious.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Had a couple beers over the weekend:
FatHeads Headhunter IPA: Very hoppy, but as it warmed up, it got better
Dogfish Head Punkin Ale: Really liked it....Tastes better in a mug then a bottle
Otter Creek Oktoberfest: Very good, lighter flavor. My 2nd favorite Oktoberfest behind Great Lakes.
Anyone know where I can get Yuengling Oktoberfest? Been looking for it for a while, every distributor is out and doesn't know when it will be back in stock

I can occasionally drink a pumpkin beer, but I can only drink one and I can't drink anything else afterwards.

Thing is, I don't really like very heavy desserts either. I'm not a big "sweet tooth guy", so I am sure that plays into it.JoseCuervo wrote:I can occasionally drink a pumpkin beer, but I can only drink one and I can't drink anything else afterwards.

Hal's off McKnight has some on draft. One For The Road is getting it this week as well. Dive Bar should be putting on another barrel at some point in the near future. Of course, these places are all up north...JS© wrote:I'm disappointed at the lack of Pumking available.
Also was at Rock Bottom tonight. Never had their Pumkelweizen before (dark wheat pumpkin beer). Pretty darn good.

I think they are usually over spiced as well. I can do heavy desserts, but I typically like my beer tasting like beer.shafnutz05 wrote:Thing is, I don't really like very heavy desserts either. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I think it's only a matter of time ever since the Market District right by it started selling beer. Although I get the impression it's been a tad better recently than it has before, though it really couldn't have gotten much worse short of an immediate collapse. The fridges are still depressing, haha. Obviously not too optimistic about it.
