Please post your thoughts on Saison-Brett. I've had Boulevard products and they're awesome but I've yet to have that one yet. From what I have heard it's a really solid bretty/sour beer.

On another note - I've been holding onto this thing for awhile, and after a long work project ending tonight is the night I'm drinking it. 864 total bottles, and these were aged in Blanton's barrels.

I was thoroughly disappointed with this beer.

Wow, that sounds awesome - really cool.

I am hoping to do a lot of barrel aged stouts this fall and winter. I feel like I didn't try much new stuff last fall/winter and intend to remedy that this year.

My friend is doing a beer tasting for his birthday party this weekend and awards will be given out for bringing the most unique or outstanding beer.

From my personal stash I think i'm going to bring Le Freak and monks cafe sour. I'm not going to make it all the way to house of 1000 beers, I think i'm going to hit up brews brothers to fill out my offering.

I'm definitely looking for stout suggestions, I'll probably pick up ephemere and Six Point Resin, so that leaves two open spots.

You'd probably like North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imp Stout, pretty bitter stout.

Saison brett really isn't that sour. It just has a little bit of that brett funk to go with a solid saison.

This week felt like it was never going to end. Therefore, I am ushering in the weekend with a Golden Monkey.

Well, this evening took an unexpected turn. Wife and I stopped at Whole Foods in Wexford.
Picked up...

1 Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA
1 Newcastle Werewolf
1 Great Lakes Elliot Ness
1 Shipyard Brown Ale
1 Victory Headwaters Pale Ale
1 Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA :scared:

Then we stopped at Wexford Ale House for dinner. Got a Great Lakes Nosferatu. Very, very good. Much hoppier than I was expecting, but I enjoyed every sip.

Then I did it. 22oz Southern Tier Unearthly Imperial IPA. One of the best beers I've ever had. Much more malty than hoppy...and 22oz was a bit overkill...but so freakin' good. Sweet malt flavor without the sharpness of hoppy IPAs.

I'm a happy man right now. :thumb:

Next time your evening takes an unexpected turn like that, could you make a swing by and pick me up?

:D We'll make sure to swing by the tool shed next time :thumb:

Had the Newcastle Werewolf last night...and I'm not a fan. Very strange flavor that I couldn't really place, but not pleasant...especially after the Unearthly. Almost light cherry cough syrup. I had to switch to Blue Light so as not to pass out on my floor. :face:

Stopped by Wegman's.

Picked up a Baltic Thunder (have had it before, but love it).

Dogfish Head Raison d'Etre (I've had their IBA and it is in my top 10, so looking forward to this)

GL Eliot Ness (have had it before, but again, amazing beer)

I picked up a magic hat variety pack, and every time i get it, I wonder why I do it. I like #9, but all their other stuff is always so weird. We'll see how these ones go. It had #9, Hocus Pocus (Weis), An Octoberfest, and an IPA.

Shad, I had the Raison d"etre. I LOVE IT! It was so delicious from the tap.

Happy to hear that. I enjoy their Oktoberfest, but I agree c2I, I am not a big fan of their other offerings. The brewery is cool if you get a chance to visit.

Picked up a sixer of Edmund Fitz, and enjoying one now.

Magic Hat has been so hit or miss over the last few years. I like the Hex okay though.

Edmund Fitz is probably my favorite porter on the market, but there are some intriguing ones that are really tough to get I want to try.

Had the Victory Headwater Pale Ale (great)...
Shipyard Brown Ale (really, really great)...
and Flying Dog IPA (meh)...

Saving the other 2 (Elliot Ness and Weyerbacher Double Simcoe) for the Steelers game tomorrow.

I picked up one of these guys for my friend's 30th bday last night. I don't really care for bourbon, but this had a really smooth bourbon flavor. Definitely not something you want to drink a lot of, but great if your pouring out glasses for people to try.
