Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Pumpkin Tasting Weekend.
Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale, from Uinta Brewing
Punkin Ale, Dogfish Head
Punk'n Ale, Uinta Brewing
La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado, Stone collaboration
Smashed Pumpkin, Shipyard Brewing
Pumpkin Chocolate Stout, gameroom 'fridge tap at crazy beer brewing friend's house (knows his stuff. Has won a couple local awards)
Ratings: Oak Jacked was everyone's favorite. A hearty serving of pumpkin pie in a glass. Next was Punkin Ale, although it was the most filling of all of them. La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado, was next favorite followed by Punk'n Ale. Smashed Pumpkin didn't have a full pumpkin spice flavor but was still tasty and drinkable. It was the second to last tasting so taste buds were working overtime.
Beer buddy's Pumpkin Chocolate Stout was the last beer to taste and was a strange combination after an afternoon of drinking so many pumpkin-flavored beers. He said it was a test beer made by mixing this with that. Luckily he had an IPA still on tap to shock the system after so much spicy beer.
Regretfully, the local favorite craft beer store is unable to import Southern Tier Pumking due to state distribution laws. The owner said he traded for a couple bottles and it was really good. Stupid laws that prevent free commerce kept us from an added option!

I'll let you know tomorrow...I didn't make it to that one last night.count2infinity wrote:let me know how the Troegs Dead Reckoning porter is, malkinshair
I will say that the Heavy Seas - Small Craft Warning Uber Pils was awesome. I'm not usually a Pilsner guy, but it was so clean...very good flavor. Did not taste like a 7% Alc beer at all. I will be picking up some more of those in the future.
The Magic Hat Blind Faith IPA was disappointing. Not hoppy enough.

Mmmm...it's good. Different, but good. It seems to be more hoppy than a normal porter, but the finish is all dark chocolate/coffee...all the right bitterscount2infinity wrote:let me know how the Troegs Dead Reckoning porter is, malkinshair

Had an Atwater Vanilla Java Porter last night.
Not a fan.
Tasted like a cold coffee with that fake vanilla syrup added. No real body to it.

I wasn't a fan of it either. Not a fan of vanilla porters anyway, but I just found it to be way too thin.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I was in the Galveston Texas area earlier this month (and will be there again next week) and sampled a local craft breweries offerings from Houston. The brewery is "Saint Arnold" and their 'Weedwacker' and 'Lawnmower' brews were well above average.
If you're ever in the South Texas area, they're worth trying.

The best vanilla porter I have EVER had is Victory at Sea by Ballast Point. Absolutely incredible.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I didn't hate it...I think it was just the flavor more than anything. The flavor combo is something I'd like, but the vanilla flavor bothered me. I was imagining something like a Guinness Float flavor-wise.count2infinity wrote:i really like that beer.
mmmmmm...Guinness Floats.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Founders Porter -- Excellent, well-balanced porter...would definitely get again.
Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale -- Wowowow this beer is good. Brewed with brown sugar so that comes through a bit, but just an awesome body.

I thought it was pretty decent. I have yet to see it in bottles, had it on draft at Sharp Edge last fall.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I got a 6 pack of it today. I thought the first few sips were good, and quite a variety of flavors. However, the second half it seemed somewhat flat in taste. I'll need to see how the rest of the 6 pack goes.
