"Don't think of it as a burden but as an opportunity" - Most often used when assigned extra work.
"You've been volunteered to do this" - Just say what has really happened, I was assigned to do the job.

about a month ago i used "it is what it is" and i predicted i'd see that phrase in this thread shortly. all the sudden i hear it everywhere the last two months. maybe it's just that phenomena that once i buy a certain kind of car i see it on the road everywhere even though i'd never known it was even a car before.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:When people use phrases such as "It is what it is" or "His resume is his resume." I was very guilty of using it in it's early stages. I stopped using it, didn't hear it for several months, and then it's explodes and it's everywhere.LeopardLetang wrote:about a month ago i used "it is what it is" and i predicted i'd see that phrase in this thread shortly. all the sudden i hear it everywhere the last two months. maybe it's just that phenomena that once i buy a certain kind of car i see it on the road everywhere even though i'd never known it was even a car before.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:When people use phrases such as "It is what it is" or "His resume is his resume." And, in the case of Pens games, doesn't start until there's < 10 minutes left in the game.canaan wrote:its not cheering though. its mockery that only happens when the home team is up a large number.Chefpatrick871 wrote:People who complain about how fans cheer or dont cheer.

People who go to places like Chipolte, Five Guys, etc (i.e. busy with limited seating) by themselves and sit at a 4 person table when there are other options available, thus making larger parties squeeze into smaller tables.

When people call me on my work phone and don't say who they are before they start talking. I don't have caller id on my office phone, so unless they say who they are, I have to guess through voice and context. My boss does this all the time. Drives me nuts

People who leave time on the microwaves in the work kitchen. I feel compelled to hit “cancel” every time I walk by one of them.
Cars where the rear turn signals are simply the red brake lights blinking. I prefer vehicles that have separate amber lights for the rear turn signals.

that's a good one. it's irrational. my one friend freaks out about it. personally, i can't stand letting the microwave hit 0:00 and ding, so i always stop it early. and my clock's never set right, so i'd rather see the 0:02.Shyster wrote:People who leave time on the microwaves in the work kitchen. In a similar fashion, at a small gas station where there are like only 4 pumps, and there are a line of cars, and a person pumping finishes, and then goes into the convienence store and orders a sandwich, etc, all the while leaving there car at the pump and having people in line waiting.cheesesteakwithegg wrote:People who go to places like Chipolte, Five Guys, etc (i.e. busy with limited seating) by themselves and sit at a 4 person table when there are other options available, thus making larger parties squeeze into smaller tables.

<Color Commentator> is SO biased against <My Team>. <Color Commentator> has hated <my team> since <event> and it is even worse since he started working on TV. I am going to start an email campaign to <network> to try to get them to at least take <Color Commentator> off my team's games if not fire him. He is so un-objective.

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
I do taxes for a living. This one is rifle/bell tower-worthy for me.
The FORM you SUBMIT with your tax information (i.e. 1040) is called a "TAX RETURN."
The MONEY you RECEIVE as a result of your taxes paid exceeding your liability is your "TAX REFUND."
REFUND.
The money you receive is not your return, but your REFUND.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
