From what I've read, it sounds like an over-smoked, crappy beer. And I usually like Rogue (Shakespeare is awesome)count2infinity wrote:anyone try the Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale yet?

its awesome if you like screaming the f word at your neighbor over politics, sadly my wife doesn't enjoy when I drink this in public anymore.Kraftster wrote:Edmund Fitz is really good. I think the Anchor porter is my favorite porter. Nosferatu is too hoppy for me, but I imagine its awesome for hopheads.

Second on the Shakespeare. That is some high-quality stuff. Think I'll pick some up for the weekend.shafnutz05 wrote:From what I've read, it sounds like an over-smoked, crappy beer. Heading to State College tomorrow for the weekend. Will be picking up several sixers of Fest bier... anyone have any recent experiences to share? Local/eastern PA items I should be looking for?

Had Uinta IPA -- Utah - nice flavor, not too bitter, reminded me of a fruit beer mixed with an IPA, floral notes.
Had Breckenridge IPA special edition from Denver, 9% -- was good but reminded me of similar IPAs in that strong style, quite a bite -- think Hop Devil in color and taste.

Anyone know of the where...about...s of Pumking by SouthernTier? I was only able to find it once last year and it is an absolute dream.
While we're on the topic of Great Lakes Brewing Company, their best brew by far is the Lake Erie Monster. That is currently top 5 on my beer list.

Damn that means it's probably gone. They had it on tap at Fatheads last year for like 3 days. And I also saw bottles 2 years ago at D's in Regent Square. Must find this gem asap.shafnutz05 wrote:I saw it at Whole Foods a couple of weeks ago.Mr. Colby wrote:Anyone know of the where...about...s of Pumking by SouthernTier? Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Wegman's in State College has a whole set-up just for the Pumking.
I'm heading to Cleveland this weekend and I'm stoked because apparently the gas station down the street from my fiancee's parent's house has 6 packs of Fathead Headhunter IPA. I'm going to stock up.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It is currently on tap and bottles available at House of 1000 Beers in New Kensington. I believe the other places I would ordinarily look (1 For the Road in Wexford, Beer Nutz in Blanox) are both sold out.Mr. Colby wrote:Damn that means it's probably gone. I had it on draft at Smokin Joes last weekend. I've found it tastes much better on draft.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
lol, Pennsylvania's laws are even more draconian than Maryland. Only a couple stores are allowed to do this, but it's nice because places that sell craft six-packs and bottles were few and far between before this change.Froggy wrote:MWB wrote:Just opened a Whole Foods nearby. Yeah, things are much looser here. Can buy beer almost anywhere and the only time you can't get it is before noon on Sunday.
