Eh? You carry a phone during races? Must not be running very fast. :P
Have you seen my times? ...(checks times)...oh **** I'm not going very fast. ;)

I run with my iPhone, which I tend to update the songs on it more than my iPod. Plus it has a stronger case on it, which helps considering how ungraceful I am.

I'm annoyed by pictures or art hanging too high on a wall. One of the more ridiculous things to be irked about, I know.

What would be an acceptable height range? does it depend on the wall?

I'm way more annoyed with urinals hanging too high on a wall. I'm 5'9", so average height or slightly below but someplace where I was the other day, there was a whole bank of them that were so high I couldn't use them.

In part, yes. It 's all about the overall scale of the wall and of the art piece,. You're trying to establish a "vignette" of sorts, so the art should be at eye level. You're seekingto establish an relationship between the piece and the wall. For an average sized room with 8' ceilings, you 'd approximate putting the geometric center about 5' above the floor. For higher ceilings, this is also true.

When you have your turn signal on, I'm expecting you to make a turn. Don't get pi**y when I pull out into your lane expecting you to turn and you keep going straight.

On that note... three lanes going to a light. Left turn lane, Straight lane, Straight/Right turn lane. I need the straight lane so as I'm approaching, it's green, but some guy is sitting there with his brake lights on. I pull up behind, he's still sitting there. I beep at him. The two people in the back seat turn around and flip me off. I beep again. The car then turns on left turn signal and makes the turn. All while flipping me off. I felt like following them in as they were turning into walmart, but I didn't really want to waste my time on it. I figure they'll get theirs soon enough.

The only rebuttle I have to this is if there is say a parking lot right after the intersection and they are turning in there.

They are turning their turnsignal on at the appropriate time giving fair warning, but it's the right immediately after the intersection.

That's why I just usually wait until the person either starts their turn or goes by me, because I've almost been in an accident on both sides of the equation.

Something my wife always does, and she is going to cause an accident and I always yell at her for it:

- you have two left hand turning lanes. She is in the far left, but when she makes her left hand turn, she turns into the right lane, pushing the people off the road, or having them blair their horn so she gets back in the left.

I ask her time and time again why she sometimes does this and her answer is always the same "I thought there was only one turning lane".

I almost get to the ponit of screaming at her because I tell her going forward, always just turn into the far left lane if you are in the far left turning lane, even if you think it is only one turning lane. She is going to not only hurt someone else, but she is going to hurt herself and possibly my daughter. It just drives me crazy because it isn't a one time thing.

Until I see the vehicle slow down, I never trust the turn signal.

I wait until they start making the turn. Because (and you can add this in the petpeeves) I've seen people slow down like 50 ft before they have to make a right turn, almost to the point they are almost stopped, and then it takes them like 10 second to actually execute the turn. I'm not saying you have to go flying into the turn at 70mph, but my god, do you have to come to an almost complete stop, and then take forever to make the turn?

I also hates when people are going into the left hand turn lane, slow down, and take like the entire lane to merge into the left hand turn lane, blocking traffic. Just when you get to the lane, get in it.

Conversely, there is an intersection that can be somewhat busy near my house, that looks like this:

Image

The longer line is the main road that doesn't stop. When it gets busy at this intersection, it is ESSENTIAL that the cars turning from the side street onto the main road watch the turn signals of the cars on the main road so they can pull out. If they don't, the side roads get horribly backed up because the person is afraid to pull out.

I was sitting at this intersection, approaching from the bottom road the other day. I literally watched about 15 cars, all with their right turn signals on, turn right onto the road we were on. Meanwhile, the guy in front of me steadfastly refused to pull out. I finally laid on my horn.

I can't stand when there is a center turning lane and people refuse to use it properly. The most common thing people do is to not fully get into the lane when they need to make a turn, thus sticking out into traffic. The next common thing is for people to take their sweet time to get into the lane when it is completely clear. The last thing that annoys me is when someone is on a side road and needs to make a left. The lane they need to pull into has traffic, but the lane for traffic heading right is empty. They could pull into the turning lane and then just wait until the traffic clears to proceed, instead they wait until both lanes are clear until moving. I always get stuck behind someone like this when I need to make a right turn.

Here's another one:

You're hoping to make a left turn and see a car in the opposite direction that will be making a right turn.
Both of you are turning onto a road, which is two lanes in both directions.

Now - theoretically - we should both be able to turn at the same time....but why do I hesitate?

I'll tell you why: some many horrible drivers make that right turn into the left lane.
If you try to turn at the same time, it's an instant accident.

That would seriously drive me nuts. I get gasket-blowing angry at drivers that fail to respect the two-lane turning zones.

I saw arguably the most stupid female driving I've ever seen Friday night in King of Prussia. For anyone familiar with the intersection of 202 and Gulph Road, it is an EXTREMELY complex intersection. This woman wanted to turn left, but failed to veer off into the divided left turning lane. So what did she do? From the "straight" lanes, she just turned her car over to the left, right in front of me. Traffic was flying through the intersection from the opposite direction, so she merely just creeps out into oncoming traffic, and acts indignant when cars are swerving around her and flipping her off.

Perhaps even more shockingly, a second woman did this about 10 seconds later. The woman beside me and I were just laughing/horrified at how someone could be so outrageously stupid.

Like I said above a few posts, it drives me nuts and makes me angry, mainly because she is going to get into an accident one day, and she constantly has my daughter in the car, it scares the crap out of me.

She yells at me because I drive 5-10mph over the speed limit on highways and gets angry saying I'm a dangerous driver doing that.

Yet even though she goes the speed limit, she has no awareness of anything around her and to me, that makes her FAR more dangerous.

One final driving petpeave, and this happened at the Bucco game the other night.

Down where 28 ends and you are at the light and you can either go left into the city or right into the parking areas, it gets backed up because the left lane has people turning into lots. I finally get to the point where I get to the light and can get into the right lane as I was going to park in the parking garage near Heinz. I get some jagoff who pulls out in front of me because they are sick of waiting in the left lane where everyone is turning in the lots. Fine, he is is just trying to get through the traffic.

But the AHOLE is trying to turn in the same lot, but doesn't want to wait in line, so when he gets up to where the gate is, he turns on his left turnsignal, tries to push into the line, where noone is letting him, and proceeds to block the entire right lane, causing all sorts of traffic behind him.

I along with others are blowing the horn, and he is getting mad putting his hands out the window like "what am I supposed to do?" . Well, you could have waited in line to turn into that lot with everyone else.

Eventually a cop saw this and made him go straight, which then he had to drive all the way down past Heinz, around it and probably back to that line and sit in it again. Instead of waiting 2 or 3 minutes, he probably added another 15-20 minutes to his wait. I'm glad that cop was there.
