I'm pretty sure the Canes won the Summer.

Nice that they were able to buy 2 years of FA. Not really a huge bargain, though, is it?

Overpaid.

So I'm guessing the new trend for players is to completely skip that second-tier contract and go for the big check.

Seems like a good contract for both sides. I think he could have gotten more money, but he took the discount. Canes will be fun to watch for years to come.

Another long term contract to a formerly concussed player...... just sayin.

I find it funny that Jordan Staal is the #3 center on the Canes.

I didn't say he was the first to do it, hence why I used "players". ;)

Thinking Skinner doesn't play wing.

The "second" contract has been gone for quite a while now.

They moved Skinner to wing last year for the most part.

Eric Staal has played some as a winger and, as all we know, so has Jordan. The Canes have 3 guys with some experience as both centers and wingers. Pretty sure they'll have some interesting combinations on the top two lines during pre-season until they figure out who plays with who. Add Semin and T Ruutu and they already know their top-6 and it looks very formidable. BLueline still a big work in progress, though.
