Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
Gianotti and Eric Hagman were pretty solid this morning while Paul Alexander is conveniently on vacation this week in light of the Freeh Report release. :pop:
Edit: didn't realize Alexander was back today. I predict an on air meltdown by the Fan's resident JoePa fan boy.

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
Can CBS Sports hire Matt Williamson so he can do interviews on the fan and not the station 970 that can only be heard in a random 1 mile radius in a non defined area of the pittsburgh region?

No Mark Madden on that list, not heavy enough.

What happened to Chris Mueller? Is he gone? I think he was one of the best on there

I listened to Savran's show today on 970. It's amazing how much better it was than any show on the fan. Actually having guests lined up for discussions and not relying on calls to drive the show? What a novel idea. No wonder he didn't go to the fan when he was done at 1250.

I've been getting Stan's show via IHeartRadio while at work and I agree...the difference is very noticeable.Nuge wrote:I listened to Savran's show today on 970. I don't mind The Morning Show because I've always been a fan of Colony and I've come to like Gianotti. Those two offset Alexander for me. I may be in the minority that didn't really mind Vinnie & Cook, but I'll stick with Savran's show during that block now.
I find Seibel, Starkey & Miller to be unlistenable. I gave that show a chance for a while because I used to like Starkey when he would fill in on 1250 years ago, and I don't mind Josh Miller. But I just can't stand Seibel. And the effing 5:40 Free For All might be the worst sports talk radio segment I've ever heard. I can't tell if they're trying to go for some sort of sterilized, short version of the rants Jim Rome's show used to allow its callers, or if it's supposed to be something else.
Still a big fan of Mueller's show. Best overall show on Pittsburgh sports radio, in my opinion.

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
The list:
Suprised there was no Madden. Maybe it's due to the music played during the show or the stripper/pron interviews he does.
Enjoyed looking at the pictures andtrying to figure out which hosts are wacky "morning zoo" types. Not hard to figure out.
Mueller does have the best show on the Fan, consistently but his time slot is awful and works against him IMO. I feel that he develops plans for his shows as somebody mentioned that Savran does. Mueller could be the new Savran in this town in a couple decades. He's still young but may move on to another city due to his talent level someday. It's hard to believe that he got to where he is as a result of winning a contest on 1250 a few years back while all these other sports talk lifers on the Fan like Seibel and Alexander have been established for years but produce a lesser product during their shows.
I love that "The Herd" was #22. Can't stand that guy. You'd think that a guy with that amount of exposure of having a 4 hour radio show and a 30 minute TV show on the "Worldwide Leader" would grant him some more respect.

I was, too, so I asked someone in the biz and was told that the list was only for "all-sports" stations so the X doesn't qualify.jimjom wrote:The list:

Da Fan afternoon show:
Heard them rip on two or three callers for their poor input.
So, if these guys were so great at their craft, they wouldn't have to rely on callers to fill in the time and there sure as hell wouldn't be three of them crowding around the mic.

I've been listening in and out of Madden today. I heard 2 minutes of Shea Webber talk...he led off the show talking about Fred Willards lewd act, went in to all the porn stars that have retired lately...I just heard him repeat that story, he talked to AJ of WWE (which I dont mind at all) now he's got another porn star on. No wonder he isnt considered a sports show on that heavy hundred list

I turned on Filaponi for 20 seconds and hes pushing for Pitt to get out of those games with Penn State in 2016-17.
"Tonight. My question to you is, If youre Pitt, do you want to play Penn State?"
WTF kind of stance is that??
