Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
For many that missed a lot of Founders Backstage Series (Canadian Breakfast Stout, Blushing Monk, Better Half), Frangelic Mountain Brown is around PGH now. Since it's not a barrel aged stout like CBS or barrel aged old ale like Better Half it's cheaper and easier to find. I grabbed a few bottles today for 14.99. It's an American Brown Ale brewed with hazelnut coffee. I'll be cracking one in an hour or so and am pretty pumped for it.

Had Leffe Brown tonight. Not my taste, but it was very smooth and well put together.

Starting out the night with "Mean Old Tom", a smooth stout from the Maine Beer Company. Aged on natural vanilla beans, but nothing too overpowering. A nice amalgamation of flavors.

That sounds really good Shaf. Have you had Breckinridge Vanilla Porter before. Good stuff.
Think I'm going to crack Fin du Mode now.

I have not had it yet, I'll try it.MWB wrote:That sounds really good Shaf. Have you had Breckinridge Vanilla Porter before. Good stuff.

Funny about Fin du Monde (and all those Unibroue beers). For a while, Wegman's (which offers $11.99 flat price make your own six packs) had several Unibroue varieties available. As you probably know, that stuff goes for upwards of $70/case. So when you included a couple Unibroue offerings in there, you were almost getting back to even money. Sadly, they wised up to it and removed all of them from that section
Fin du Monde is awesome though.

It's been about ten years since I've had Fin du Monde, and i like it more now. Not a huge fan if Tripels, but I'll take this for sure. Also got Maudite, which I liked more, so we'll see if that's still the case.

Yeah, my wife is a much bigger fan of tripels than I am. I'm not a huge fan of hefeweizens either.MWB wrote:It's been about ten years since I've had Fin du Monde, and i like it more now. We seem to have similar beer tastes. I lean more towards porters and stouts overall. In the summer more IPAs though. Not a fan of hefeweizens either. Something about the wheat that I don't like in flavor and an almost stickiness in the texture.

haha, we have very similar tastes. I love porters/stouts, I like ales, but not a fan of wheats/hefeweizens, and a lot of the summer beers.MWB wrote:We seem to have similar beer tastes. While we are on the subject of IPAs, also tried the Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA tonight. Solid, solid beer.

Agree on the commodore. I don't care for wheats either, but I really like Unibrou Ephmere, that is my favorite summer beer.shafnutz05 wrote:haha, we have very similar tastes. I'm drinking a PBR out of a tall glass with Vishnu on the side: a poor man's IPA.
