Crap, now what's the plan? Not much left out there that works with the system and is of any quality. Plus losing Sullivan doesn't help... even if he was just OK, now what?

Go to camp with what we got and fill in the holes at the trade deadline.pcmforless wrote:Crap, now what's the plan? Not much left out there that works with the system and is of any quality. Plus losing Sullivan doesn't help... even if he was just OK, now what?

Minnesota Wild twitter account is running the hashtag #WelcomeZachAndRyan
#WelcomeZachAndRyan - our golf courses won't be ready until late May. Great flights to Myrtle Beach early April to get working on that offseason golf swing!

True, they definitley have enough to secure a playoff spot and can pick up something at the trade deadline. Maybe this will be some good chances for the younger guys to come up and see what they've got.AricM wrote:Go to camp with what we got and fill in the holes at the trade deadline.pcmforless wrote:Crap, now what's the plan? Guess they don't plan on making the playoffs or going very deep in them...DropEmJayBird wrote:Minnesota Wild twitter account is running the hashtag #WelcomeZachAndRyan

Like it or not the Penguins are not as good as they were last season. Losing both Parise and Suter stings, losing Staal hurts, losing Sullivan hurts. The team as it is composed now is not good enough to make a cup run. Now the Staal deal looks bad, Sutter will be ok but no help from the other guys for a while. Lots of cap space in today's NHL= losing.

They will instantly make the Wild a slightly better than .500 club.

More stunned at Suter not signing w Detroit than Parise not signing with the Pens, personally.

Re: Suter & Parise sign with Wild
I'm just happy that Steve Sullivan signed in Phoenix so that Ray Shero would not have been inclined to believe that a guy who will be 38 when the puck drops in October, disappears in the playoiffs, and looked like trash for long stretches last season would have been a viable option for "Plan B."Penspal wrote:http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=399913

It saved Shero the trouble.

Re: Suter & Parise sign with Wild
It sucks that neither Parise or Suter is coming to Pitt but there are other options. I guarantee Shero has a plan B, C, D, E...etc. I would like to see them get a good defensive defenseman first, either by FA signing or trade. Also, if Anaheim is seriously entertaining trade offers for Ryan he would be great. Maybe they can package Beau Bennett (local LA kid) and a young d-man for him. I also like Shane Doan a lot. He's only like 32. I think. He would be a Gary Roberts type guy in the room. But we need defensive help first. Maybe two d-men - a solid #3-4 (hopefullly they can trade Martin) and a solid depth guy with experience in case the young guys falter.

Re: Suter & Parise sign with Wild
Glad it's over...lots of factors went into the final decision but still should not have taken this long. I think if Suter wasn't involved we would have had a better chance at ZP but there is a reason we didn't get him. Also, no one else in our conference has gotten any better either during all of this wait and see game. The Wild will not win the cup even with these two on the team being over paid for what they won't bring to the town and that is a cup. Neither is worth that much $$$$. Looking forward to plan B which may if executed, be a better fit for us at a lesser price to pay. Stay tuned.

The bad news just keeps piling up for the Pens - the NHL just announced that the season will now be starting on July 5th. Also, the trade deadline expired 12 minutes ago.

Really? How are they better? What makes you think the team that lost its best playoff performer will go further in this years playoff?Troy Loney wrote:Nonsense.Bunkerman535 wrote:Like it or not the Penguins are not as good as they were last season. mikey and JoseCuervo keep insisting that we can trade for Nash and Ryan. I think it's a little absurd though.PghSkins wrote:More stunned at Suter not signing w Detroit than Parise not signing with the Pens, personally.

Re: Suter & Parise sign with Wild
I don't get the reaction of Sullivan leaving. He is very replaceable and overrated
