The Schultz thing doesnt really bother me at all. The rule is there; he owes no loyalty to Anaheim.

I think they knew Suter wasn't coming backTheGhostofGoulet wrote:Paul Gaustad re-signs in Nashville for 4 years and a $3.25 million AAV.
Wow, way to overpay for someone and still not have Ryan Suter.

Don't be surprised if the Senators make a deal for a defenceman now that Bobby Orr has elected to sign with Edmonton.

Gaustad continues to get paid and valued like a top-6 player and great timing for him. With UFA about to start and the fact that the Preds traded their #1 pick for him, Nashville was definitely going to have to overpay some to keep him from testing the market and possibly losing him. Nashville is also a team that was going to have to spend to hit the salary floor so mission accomplished. This and the Gill signing also sends a message to Suter that NAshville is going to spend bucks and acquire players to stay competitive.

Do you think Ray just sent Rutherford the contract he already drew up and just Photoshopped the Hurricanes logo at the top?

Congrats to Jordan Staal on that contract.......not only is he getting to play with big bro Eric like he wanted to, but 10yrs/60mil is a big windfall for him with great long-term security.
Honestly, I wouldn't have liked to have seen Staal with that deal in Pittsburgh, regardless of whether he was 3rd line center(with 2nd liner minutes anyway) or a winger. don't value him that much especially for a 10yr deal. Carolina disagrees and this is a deal where I think everyone involved is very happy right now, though Rutherford would have likely preferred a bit of a haircut on that contract.

Man, I like Prust n'all, but that contract seems pretty silly. Prust, Armstrong, Boullion, and Moen is a nice group to add to your team, though.
Can't believe Latendresse commanded so little.
I like the Boyes move for the Isles a lot.

Radulov back to KHL. What a turd.
Slava Malamud: Radulov has signed a 4-year deal with CSKA. Soviet Army's discipline standards must've gone down to hell since my time. #Preds

Federov's biggest selling point to Radulov: In the KHL, we practically expect you to be lazy!

Something must be up with that guy, because I can't imagine another team wouldn't have matched that and then some.Kraftster wrote: Can't believe Latendresse commanded so little.

2.5 mill for a very good penalty killer. cool.Kraftster wrote:Man, I like Prust n'all, but that contract seems pretty silly.
he gets into a ton of fights, but i'll put it this way...he gets into a lot of NHL fights for the same reason that MacEntyre doesn't get into a lot of NHL fights.

That's just insane. I think if I'm Parise, I sign over there for $20 million then. I seriously am surprised more NHL players don't sign there.bhaw wrote:Per Twitter, Radulov going to make about $9.2M per year in the KHL.

even in a non-hockey capacity, if you were giving me 20 million a year to live in russia vs. 5 million a year to live in the US, i'd pick the US.

I think that if you got a bunch of NHL players move to Russia, Moscow, they'd have a hell of a time there. It's not so bad if you have money.shmenguin wrote:even in a non-hockey capacity, if you were giving me 20 million a year to live in russia vs. 5 million a year to live in the US, i'd pick the US.
