Seeing the guy play in person he really is the only guy there. He's a huge guy. I didn't say he was a top player but he is a beast out there.

tim panaccio just tweeted cbj/flyers in serious talks for Nash. Schenn,Luke could be part of the deal.

I'd be completely flummoxed if Holmgren moves schenn. Couturier, Read, + would be my guess if it happened at all.

Especially if it turns out to have been a temporary family reunion.canaan wrote:I'd be completely flummoxed if Holmgren moves schenn. Couturier, Read, + would be my guess if it happened at all.

If they want Brayden Schenn that would be awesome.

That deal would actually make Philthy easier to play against.

I hope the Blue Jackets rob them blind if the rumor is true.

Couturier and Read may never have more trade value. In theory, trading them at their high points isn't crazy. But for Nash? Eesh

I'm not really a big fan of either of the Schenn players to be quite honest. Luke is pretty good defensively and Brayden is very young, but I don't know. Not a fan.

Sorry, but those guys are young and getting better. Trading them takes a huge step back if you ask me. The one thing Philly has going for them is that they are extremely young right now. Both Schenn's, Giroux, Couturier, Reed, Simmonds, etc. Trading any of those parts would be totally confusing.

Read is what he is IMO. My couturier point is exaggerated, but I think the perception of how good he was isn't inline with reality.

Talbot is their only F signed for 15-16, so they have to do something to get him some help.

Re: Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
Didn't someone post a link or something saying that the Flyers were worried about the Pens getting Parise?
Maybe trying to land Nash signals they know something.

Re: Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
I would not trade Couturier at this time. I don't know how good he's going to get in a year or two, but what he did against us was incredible. He not only played stellar defense (better than Staal, no doubt), but he physically intimidated Malkin. That nasty, toothless, smile of his was beautiful if you're a Flyers' fan. He's 19 years old, 6'3, and for sure will get better.
I am not a fan of Brayden Schenn. I just don't see a star in him.

May be getting ahead of myself, but Couturier reminds me of a young Bobby Clarke. The toothless wonder.Sarcastic wrote:I would not trade Couturier at this time. He hounded malkin. It's not like he roughed him up. "annoyed" is more apt than "intimidated"Sarcastic wrote:I would not trade Couturier at this time. True, it wasn't anything like what Kaspar did to Mario years ago in the playoffs where he roughed him up and intimidated the hell out of him too.shmenguin wrote:He hounded malkin. The Pens should sign Kevin Nash to take care of Rick Nash... In all seriousness, unless the latter Nash learned to play goalie, then no. No worries here.

Re: Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
I don't know. The asking price for Nash is really high - the Rangers balked back at the trade deadline and recently again at what Howson wanted. If that holds true, it could gut the Flyers for a skilled player, albeit a double-chinned loser. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I try really hard not to make judgments on these guys based on the Pens series, but Couturier looked like a stud against Geno, who took home alot of hardware before and after that series ended.shmenguin wrote:Read is what he is IMO. Matt Read is TK. Same guy, same numbers. Nothing to be too excited about.

Re: Would Nash to the Flyers worry anyone?
Couturier isn't as good as he looked in that series, but he had a good year, and he's gonna be real good.
