I googled this to make sure it wasn't a song lyric of some obscure band I've never heard ofcolumbia wrote:I'm so white trash, that the grubs in garbage can look sun tanned.

Seems like cans are suddenly becoming more popular... not sure what the reason is, but it is noticeable.

It's a heck of a lot cheaper to transport them.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Yeah, I posted something about this a few months ago. My former boss (a beer/wine store) told me that more micros will be going to cans. Some think that it preserves the beer better (no light) and gives a truer taste. Hadn't seen evidence of the switch until today though, with Sierra and Seranac both in cans.the wicked child wrote:Seems like cans are suddenly becoming more popular... not sure what the reason is, but it is noticeable.

Well, yum. I had the Cisco Lady of the Woods sour/American wild ale tonight with strip steak and mushrooms, cheesy crunchy bakedish potatoes, and buttery squash/zucch. Very tasty. Definitely a good summery sour. As with most sours, perfect for a somewhat fatty meal because it cuts right through, even though this one is a fuller body for the sours that I've had (has a pretty dry, white wine finish). Lemony/citrusy and acetic, was hoping for a bit more yeastiness and oakiness.

I've had Innis and Gunn before...not sure if it was the same type. The one I had was aged in scotch casks and was very good, but might unnerve less manly beer drinkers.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
That's their typical beer. But their special "American Independence Day" beer ages it in American whiskey casks. It really was quite smooth for a strong ale.largegarlic wrote:I've had Innis and Gunn before...not sure if it was the same type. The Pious Monk actually stands up to the Munich Dark much better than I expected... especially since the PM had been chilling in the back of my fridge for quite some time.

Tried Squatter's Polygamy Porter....it was meh for a porter, but drinkable. Can't sell anything over 4.0% in kegs in Utah, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
Their Big Cottonwood Ale, which we bought a six pack of (no alcohol content restriction on bottles), was much better.

Got a 4 of Three Witches Black Saison. Not bad for my first saison. Carmel/rye tones come through over the rest of the melange, which helped.
Also picked up Brekele's Brown from the Anchor peeps. Haven't tried yet.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I finally had my bottle of Mischief from The Bruery. It was a very good pale ale. I've been avoiding pale ales and IPAs of late, since I don't tend to like overly hoppy beers, but this one was very good with just the right amount of hops to give the beer that sharp taste without going overboard.

The head brewer at The Bruery teamed up with the brewer at Taps last fall and created a spin on Mischief called Missed Chief. Tasty stuff on tap. Not as good as the original. The growler I brought home didn't last long.largegarlic wrote:I finally had my bottle of Mischief from The Bruery. It was a very good pale ale. Quality beer in cans is perfect for summer days hanging near the pool. I had my first Brew Free or Die! IPA from 21st Amendment a while back after scoring a couple six-packs from a local Bev-Mo and now when in NorCal, seek out the stuff to ship south. Their Hell Or High Watermelon Wheat pleases those that like flavored beer. Offered in cans as well. Just wondering how yeast sediment would taste poured from a can, though.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I am anxious to have another 1554. I have had an awful lot of malty beers since I last had it (2008?), so I want to see if it holds up. I really enjoyed it back then.
