from when I first begin to watch hockey, hull-oates - shanahan were one of the best lines in hockey .
Oates is also the forgotten player when folks think about Mario's twisty goal against boston and
ray bourque; 1992.
Good luck and hope we meet in spring 13!

Surprised they went with Oates who doesn't have much experience at all. On a team of strong willed players that can some times be hard to handle and not the most composed group in hockey, throwing a pretty green guy in the mix like Oates should be interesting.

Oates has the most career playoffs points for a player who hasn't won the Stanley Cup.

Perfect.

Think Tocchet will go with him, they were together in Tampa in flip flopped roles.

What's the stance toward Oates on this board? I really liked him as a player and have no beef with the guy.

One of the 10 best playmakers to ever play the game, overdue for the Hall. And anyone that knows me, knows I don't throw either of those terms (or types of terms) out lightly...

Awesome. He might be worth drafting in fantasy hockey again (still bitter I took him # 1 last season). BUT LOL at Ovi ... dude still doesnt seem to 'get it'
